going as plan..
Hi my name is dean...
I've been to phuket a couple of times, work there, make some friiends and really love the place and the ppl... I made plan to have a holiday in phuket on the 2nd week of january before the wave struck..
Upon looking at the pictures,I feel real bad to travel elsewhere when phuket and the ppl is going thru a hard time.. I do not know what I'll be doing there, maybe lend a hand or help them out in one way or another... I probably bring along an XL1s to do some recording... shooting some of those recovering footage of patong...
im sticking with my plan. already got my flight book. My only concern is a place to stay.. I usually stay at tantum mansion.. Try a couple of time to call them but could not get thru.. what would u advise?.. just get there and hunt for a room?.. All I need is a simple room.. not those 5 star luxury. Kind of confuse actually since most webpage on hotel booking are still stating peak season, fully understood that updating webpage is not a major concern as of right now. Any help is would be greatly appreciated....

If You want to be at "ground zero" it's still possible to stay at our rooms on the second floor!
Garantee close to the see!

Me Too...
I've made plans to go to Phuket from 9th to 12 January and don't plan to cancel. Have also booked tickets to watch Simon Cabaret and Phuket Fantasea (not affected) but I feel bad going there to enjoy myself when everyone is mourning. Also, I'm concerned about the spread of disease...

I Survived, I RAN n I will be Back!
Was in Patong 23-28 Dec 2004 and am glad am back home now safe with daughter n wife. Hurt 2 knees and damaged camera and 2 handphones.
Experienced the refugee feeling by dragging our bags going up to the mountains with hundreds of others.
First night after the wave was a blackout in the sector from the beach 2 2nd street. No action or partying at all.Just worried and concerned faces was all I see. No supporting facilities, food was running out at outlets, family mart n 7-11s all closed. No proper transport services available, we just had to pay whatever the tut tut demanded.
My family n me just grabbed an affordable ride (3000baht) to the airport n slept the night on corridor of airline offices. Took the AirAsia flight back next morning.
BUT!!!, it was a good experience, we survived it and our family ties improved. I already booked a trip to Phuket 25 Jan and don plan to change or cancel. It is worth the visit again to see whats changed in 1 month. Rooms will be available for about 800 baht and bars will be open and running. It will be great as things will be different from the norm.
Most importantly, its an opportunity to go to Phuket and show a moment of mourning for all those who did not make it.

Again those taxi/tuk tuk drivers show their right face
Most thai people helping farangs with a place to stay, food, clothes and so on and the drivers just finds a new way to make more money...shame on them!!!
