ranong region

hi all!
does anyone know anything about the reagion of ranong (on the west coast of thailand near the border to myanmar)?
I stayed there twice on a small island called kho chang (not to be confused with the bigger kho chang in the golf of thailand)
a charming family ran a small ressort there, mostly german and english speaking tourists, but I am afraid that the beach in question might be hit severely by the flood because it is oriented south to south-west.
anyone who did/does stay in or near ranong and does know anything about the situation?

I have read in an german forum, that the damage in that region is not bad. The resorts semms to be ok
