Thai SIM card ?

Hello,
I just read on the site that DTAC removed it's IMEI lock on their SIM cards and AIS followed them in the end of May.
That's great...
So, during my stay in Patong, I think I'll buy a pre-paid Thai SIM card and use it in my mobile phone.
Any suggestions ?
Does anyone know the prices ?
How can you recharge it ? (I mean : without credit card number)

Thanks in advance

Thai Sim Card????

Sawadee...
I know that AIS uses many phones....The only big deal is if your are a GSM customer (like me) then you need a high mghz receiver..
Actually my rate is .34 USD outbound and free inbound in Thailand but ...
I had a phone unlocked in April....600 Baht and then purchase some 1-2 Call cards and off you go...

I suspected that I just bought a SIM Card got a local number. I was a favor for a Thai business person that I know and they did have to show an ID card.

I sould be supprised, with all the mobile shops, if a vendor would turn you down.

Bottom Floor of Big C has about 20 mobile shops.

Don't for get the charger for Thai volteage...I got a charger for a Nokia 8290 for 300 baht and a 600 baht 1-2 call card at about 6 baht per min...

Just call a certain number on your phone and punch in the scatch off number and you've got minutes............

I don't know the price when you buy the pre-paid card (cash card) first time but you can buy refill of 300 or 500 baht, maybe in higher amounts too.
You just scratch off a code on your refill card, dial a number and enter the code to refill your number with money.

For myself, I prefer to get invoiced every month since I live here.

There are also many new promotions from AIS to keep your bills down, my last phone bill was 6500 baht but with the new promotion program I could cut it with 50%, so this I need to check out.

AIS is expensive for long distance calls, 12 baht/minute, e.g. from Phuket to Bangkok or Isaan.

Jimmy: Only you guys from America may have problem with the voltage here, in Europe most countries have 220v, same as Thailand.
