silk(utherman's restaurant)

hey guys,
ive been meaning to write this post, but then the tsunami hit and there were more important uses for this forums. which by the way, nicke should be very proud of himself that his forum was a great information tool those 1st few days and perhaps, may have helped families looking for lovede ones. great job, nicke.
ok, i went to robert's restaurant on christmas day. being from the states, chrtistmas is really big there and i was defintely feeling a little blues, not being home for xmas.
robert's restaurant is called Silk, located in Surin, on the main road, i beleive in Surin Plaza. it is a first class, beautiful restaurant. now mind you, i ate there when they were serving western food, not their specialty, and the food was fantastic so i could only imagine what the thai food, their main fare, must taste .i have many freinds in new york and boston that run restaurants and i can tell you, robert runs the place like a king. he has his staff attentive and pleasant, and walks around making sure his guests are pleased with their dining. now, robert is my friend but i am writing this review as a customer and if you guys want a change of pace and have a 1st class night out with that lovely lady you met a few days ago or with your wife, i would strongly recommend you go to Silk. you wont be disappointed

I dont think it is strict but flip flop is not OK. Jeans and shoes would be fine, I guess.

Go to both restaurants

When you get here you have to see this new restaurant as it's quite a sight. You would not believe someone built this on Phuket. It's Thai food and we have bands and a DJ so it's a really cool scene. The Red Room is still going and the food is still great, when you come to Silk maybe we have a drink at the red room later or you can go there another night as it's western food.

To answer some questions about dress many people wear shorts at the restaurant but they would wear a cool shirt and stylish sandals or shoes with it.
Swim trunks with tank top and flip flops while you girl has her best 99baht dress would make you stand out but I'd still make sure we'd partied together, it's all good.

No one dresses up here (except me)

Cheers!

Thumbs up A Wonderful Dining Experience

Had the great pleasure to dine at Silk with Robert, Marc and his lady last week. Fabulous place. The best restaurants of San Francisco and Marin, the area of California that I come from, have nothing on Silk. Total class in every way.

So if you just want great food in a great relaxing atmosphere, or you want to treat or wow your friends/family, this is the place. The layout and design of the structure and the interior is most impressive, but at the same time has a very warm, comfortable feeling. Food and service are absolutely top-notch.

JayBee

Thumbs up

Me, Sting and Skorpionen went to both The Red Room and Silk today. The Red Room is very nice but Silk is fantastic, probably one of the best restaurants on the island and I am sure it will be a big success once the word is out.

We all agreed it was a first class restaurant, a must see. Very nice designed.

I can recommend both The Red Room (farang food) and Silk (Thai food).
