Seafood industry

This is a bit different to Aussie Dollars thread

Am wondering about the availability and price of fresh, local seafood in general.
Do you now have to import ?

Also is there a signature Thai/Phuket seafood dish that should be tried by
seafood lovers ?

Well at the same time as a drop in local fishermen is a drop in local requirements so I think its about equal..

Yellow curry crab (if you dont mind getting messy) is great.. Geng Culli Poo
Barbeque Prawns with chilli / lemon dip..
Steamed Fish in Lemon and Chili..
Mussels with ginger..

Less pure seafood but Hoi Tod is a good drunken snack (mussels friend in batter with beansprouts) and Phad Thai seafood can be good if well done.

I like also the big prawn in red curry!

The best I had was in the restaurant Coconut in Patong!

It is on the main road, going north from Bangla! It is thre where all the "open air" restaurants are (not the one behind Tiger!)

Everything I ate there was great, and I know Thai food! Mm the fishcakes....

Onepen choosed it the first time, proberly because it was the one with the most Thai customers, wich is alsways a good sign!
