Been wondering about the bg`s and the pawned gold jewellery.........
I`ve heard it mentioned the girls just pawn the gold when biz is a little slow,thats cool ,but my question is if there`s that much stuff getting pawned and of what i know back here in oz a pawnshop will give you f***all for anything......how much do they get??
I`m picturing pawn shops full of gold stuff,and supply and demand being a universal price guide........is the whole jewellery selling thing just a figure of speech? I baught my bg a little necklace and after she showed how pleased she was ,she asked how much i paid for it............containing my laughter I said 1000 baht which is true..........
ok it was no crown jewell but it wouldn`t be worth 20 baht as a seller.
any examples of the pawn trade in patong?

It`snot really a pawn shop I think. It`s more like selling your old gold back to the jewelryshop. My thai wife had some jewels that were cracked. So we went to a jewerly shop gave the old jewelry to the shopkeeper. They examined it weight it examined again weight it again and then they offered a to us for it. We took the price and bought something else back with the money we had.

I once was pestered for a ring by a girl I was with and I got a very nasty look when I suggested that I bring one with me next time I come back to Thailand !! Q.E.D.

Problem was, next tour 3 months later, first night out, i hadn't been on Bangla 2 minutes. Was just cruising, trying to decide where to go 1st. when the same girl came up behind me, grabbed my hand and asked. You've guessed it.

yeah fair enough alibaba 5555555 granted it wasn`t your top shelf piece,it`s funny though that same girl has just called me and wished me a happy b/day,i haven`t been there since aug 04 and i don`t even remember telling her when my b/day was............
as they say "information is everything"
I`d heard all the gold selling stuff so I didn`t want to go down that track............I`m not really as tight as a fishes arss *ole
