Well for any of you in Patong that missed the rugby...........you didn't miss much. First up,Scotland put in their usual brave and workmanlike performance and were unlucky against a very lacklustre French side.France won but it should have been Scotlands game. The French will put out a very different side against the "Roast Beefs". Wales throughly deserved the win against a poor England performance with far too many handling and tactical errors.England midfield was non existant with two new centres who looked out of place.A big step up is needed to beat France next match. Today,Italy showed Ireland that they have come on a lot and although Ireland deserved to win,the first half showing was poor. The Irish also have to improve to show they can win the Grand Slam.

Hehehe.... I wont say anything ill wait until after we play them in cardiff, But I tell you one thing Ireland will have to play a dam site better than that today, They were all over the place even though they eventually came through, And the really bad thing about the match was we lost one of our star players in gordan darcy I hope its only a twinged he got in his hamstring or he could be out for the rest of the tournament

Agree Ally.Gordon D'Arcy and Brian O'Driscoll are the main reason for Irelands great improvement over the past 2yrs.Its bad to lose a star player.England have lost at least five, and the replacements are not up to international standard yet.No wonder we are struggling

Good to see Scotland turn in an honourable performance at last.

To take on the European champions in their own back yard was always going to be hard, but to then have to up with a poor Welsh ref and Irish touch judge was too much.

I would have thought our Celtic cousins would have given us a break - but sadly, no

Never mind, next up are the Irish at Murrayfield. Should be a good game. If Scotland perform with the same passion and effort they did against France, then they could create an upset - especially with D'Arcy and O'Driscoll likely to be missing through injury.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the match now and the craic with the Irish supportors in the bars afterwards. They're always good fun!!

C'mon the Scots!!

It does !! However, they were the better team and actually looked like they wanted to win the game, whereas England lacked passion and a leader.

I felt that Tait and Noon had good games and feel that it is unfair to blame them. Tait got "spear-tackled" the first time he ran through, fair enough but if you watch it again, the ball was passed behind him and he lost momentum. Also, in the first half, whenever England did pass the ball out to the backs, the new pairing were never given the ball, Worsley was given the job and just ran straight in to the Welsh centres. this in turn meant that the first 2 players to the breakdown were Tait and Noon which is not why they were picked, they are backs not back row forwards.

England's tactics were woefully wrong and they should have been beaten by more in my opinion. Well played Wales you deserved it !! I enjoy watching England win, but I enjoy even more watching rugby played as it should be - backs running with the ball in hand and at pace !! Australia and New Zealand are so good at that as well and it does annoy me sometimes when England revert to playing "10 man rugby" when they do have such good backs.

Next week it's England at home to France and it could well be the first time in a very long while that England receive a start on the handicap betting playing at home !! LOL

One thing is for sure, the rugby can only get better over the next few weeks !!

Cheers
Diz

Yep, fair play to the Welsh. As an English bloke it hurts, all the more because Ireland are far more likely to win it now.

That said, after watching the Italy game, this must be the most open 6 Nations in recent history. Wales to sweep the board anyone?

I thought everyone loved the Irish

And yes I think wales have a really good chance of winning it, And if you put a bet on them before the england match you would have had really good odds.

We do all love the Irish; we just love winning more and it looks like England will be a distant 3rd this time, at best. Ouch!

Well this weekends matches are finished and as an England supporter I am gutted. Italy v Wales yesterday was the expected rout with Wales winning easily against a very poor Italian side. The last Italian performance was good but they are back to there bad old ways of too many handling errors.Wales are looking good and won 38-8. Scotland v Ireland started very well for the Scots and they were 8-0 up after 15mins and Ireland were rattled slowly though they got back into the game and didn't miss their injured centres.Ireland ran out easy winners against what is again a poor Scotland side 40-13.
Now the England v France match has just finished and I am so disappointed in the second half performance. France scored 12 unanswered points and England missed a total of 6 penalties. To be well ahead at half time 17-6 and let a really poor French side back in is just too much. How we miss J Wilkinson and some of the injured players was never more clear. In world rankings England can no longer consider themselves even in the top 5 If we played the All Blacks or Aussies now we would be hammered. BTW final score was England 17 France 18.
I'm looking forward to the final round of matches when Wales play Ireland for what must be the championship. My money is still on Ireland as Wales have to go to France and Ireland have France at home. England will be lucky to get wins against the Scots at the moment.

If Jonny wilkinson had of being playing england would have run out easy winners, France were really poor, But its always a good sign when your playing that badly and still winning, You can not write the french off even though they have to come to lreland.

I was really impressed with how well Ireland came back after that first 15mins without our two star players, Considering how bad our record is against scotland in there back yard, Before yesterdays result out of 10games we played against scotland away, We only won once and lost the other 9.

There's still a long way to go though although I think england are out of it, They still could have a big say in who will be the eventually winners, Even though Ireland are strong favourites to beat them here, We do not always live up to the hype as favourites, Lets hope we can overcome that in 2wks, I really cant wait

England need a reliable kicker ally, and its neither Charlie Hodgson or Olly Barclay. Both were terrible today.Englands forwards played well, also Josh Lewsey and Jamie Noon but I can't believe a side captained by Martin Johnson or Dallaglio would let in a side 11points down like that. Its not even France were good. They were the worst French side since the early 90's who had no disipline and gifted the opposition the win. England will be back but not this tournament

France

France can never be underestimated you'll watch them play 3 or 4 very average games and then pull out a blinder when it counts.

England had a good team for the world cup but you constantly need new talent coming through alot of thier players were coming to the end of thier careers IMHO.

France have a huge pool to pull players from I can't remember what the exact numbers are but it's much higher than NZ or Australia.

The main reason I really wanted England to win was to ease the pressure on the Irish.. I do think the Ireland wales game will now be one where the sparks fly and the tournament decided but the French are a wildcard..

Lackluster performances from many of the favorites this tournament.

[i]Englands forwards played well[i/]

who you kidding??? complete inability to clear out the rucks in the second half, show pony Worsley should be in a ballerinas gown instead of a rugby shirt.

and as for....

England injuries, great players missing....yawn (remember Wales has 4 first team regulars out)

Apart from Wilkinson, and the other obvious one I'll let you name, who do you really think you missed? and the retirements don't count after all they've been gone for well over a year now.

Next we'll have Welshman complaining about the loss of Edwards and Bennett.

Ireland haven't lost in Cardiff since 1983, should be easy for them.
