Cool

Hi prestagea
Cant say That I have ever seen any throughout Thailand thats not to say they dont have them but I would think that it is very unlikely they would have the better brands, Mostly cheap sets for kids if at all. Not big in Thailand much bigger India and Sri Lanka. Someone else may have better info sorry.

Go to India. I know you are looking in Thailand but if you are ever in India then you can get a bat made by hand to your exact specifications for next to nothing.

Don't be too sure my friend.England are no longer a pushover in 5day tests and will give the Aussies a good series. And the Aussies are not as strong as they were in the last Ashes series although we were easily beaten. We shall see

lol I would agree they seem to have improved quite substantially from what I have seen so it should be a good series. Still expect that we will have there measure. Maybe some one should buy and leave a bat wickets and ball with Nicke at the bar for the inaugural beach cricket series to be conducted.

What happened to Matty Elliott ?? I played a few games with him when he came over to our club as an 18yo. Awesome !! He toured England with the Aussies last time they came, but I haven't seen him in the side since. I recall he got some reasonable scores on that tour.

Cheers

And Aussie Dollar.....Katich and Bracken are crap....and when did Mr jacques don the baggy green OR limited over cap? I dont like stuey either.....but his missus Rachel is my ideal king of yum! Well non asian yum anyway. Long live Warney!

I think i need to compare the upcoming Ashes tourists vs what was running around last time....unless my coopers have affected me quite badly, I dont see quite so easily how we are "declining" just yet.

BTW - ooooh ahhhhh Glenn McGrath is going awesomely and "the pup" will be a boom in the ashes. Haddin and Gilly Gilly should both be in the one day team IMHO!

I'll bring a bat to leave at Nicke's in April......if he allows it of course. We can get autographs on the willow of the BM's who play the innaugural match...Drying day (aka the day after songkran) may be the ideal time!

Nah, Dabozman, not biting yet I'm suprised you haven't mentioned the 4-1 English defeat in the 1 day matches v S Africa End of a long tour but should have done better.I am looking forward to Andy Flintoff & Kevin Pieterson taking on McGrath and Warnie.Like I said don't be too sure you'll leave the UK with the Ashes

Given's Australia's form it's not a question of England winning any matches but how many days into the test will Australia win. My bet is that most of the Ashes tests will be won in the 3rd or 4th day.

Cricket bats definately available in Bangkok, there is quite a bit of cricket in Thailand.

I'm not sure exactly where, but the area of shops adjacent to the National Stadium has most things.

Chiang Mai hosts the annual International 6's and also there is the Phuket 6's, goes along with other great farang sporting events like the annual Phuket rugby tournament in May.

I doubt they'll be that cheap though, specialist market.

As for your Ashes prediction of 3rd or 4th day....Englandd have won a test in each of the recent series when they were rubbish, expect on home soil for it to be a very competative series, but hey go over complacent, it'd be nice to see the smiles drain away...

dizbusta Matthew Elliott signs up with Glamorgan again

Matthew Elliott: one more English summer beckons © Getty Images

Matthew Elliott, after a wonderful season in 2004 with Glamorgan, has signed up with them again for the 2005 English season. Elliott, a 32-year-old from Victoria who would certainly have played many more than his 21 Tests had he belonged to a country with less depth of talent than Australia, was Glamorgan's leading scorer last year in both the county championship and the totesport League.

Michael Kasprowicz will be Elliott's fellow overseas pro, having been signed up a few days ago. The next summer will be Elliott's third season with Glamorgan – he first played for them in 2000.

"It's an exciting time to be involved and there was never going to be a problem for me in committing to returning next year," said Elliott. "I've really enjoyed my cricket this summer and I'm delighted everything has been finalised. It's been a fantastic year for Glamorgan. I think the club is really going places and there are a lot of young players coming through.

"I look forward to returning in 2005 and making a contribution, not only in the first division of the Championship and totesport League but in the Twenty20 Cup and the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy as well."

Meanwhile Mike Fatkin, Glamorgan's chief executive, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Matthew has agreed to return in 2005. He had an outstanding season with us and we look forward to his continued contribution next summer

Apparently Matthew Elliott fell out big time with the long standing members of the Australian team a few years ago.......story goes that he casually told his wife about certain activities that some/most of his fellow team members get up to once stumps are drawn, whilst on tour (blond leg spinner was the lead role in the story).......she then spread the story to the partners.....which of course led to a lot of grief being experienced by the team members, who then directed it to Mr Elliott......thus his rapid slump of form some time ago, and in the end his exclusion from the test team.

[quote=Dabozman]Cant resist some friendly banter...thats me!
Well you never know whether its the real England team playing or some team of imports...Greig (oooh thats gotta hurt!) Hick, Hollioake (s) RIP, Pieterthesouthafrikaanmeateaterson, saddam hussein or otherwise. Wouldn't be surprised if Cox, mcgill and tom moody got the blue cap this year! You may then be a chance!

Mmmmm ever heard of Keppler Wessels, Of course the Aussies only select players born in Oz, or not I like a bit of banter too so this series could be fun

LOL, I was never sure but thanks for the note. I just knew he played for Oz and Eastcote Cricket Club (small nothing club in England, that once had a talented yound kid (later Test Match player) showing how easy this "batting lark" is !!).

Cheers
Diz

p.s. Barathea - does that relate to the racehorse, if so he's one of my all time favourites !! Cracking win in the Breeders Cup back in '94. Frankie at his best !!

Barathea

yes, Barathea refers to the racehorse. I had no idea of its raceform
although quite a few people have commented on what a great miler he was.
I use the nick when available on most sites.

Name was picked because he is a stallion servicing in Australia

Just after I was married went to Spanish horse dancing complex in W.A.
and we happened to see a mating take place. I thought " jesus christ
wish I had one like that". No doubt so did she.

Ahhh ... but was just wishful thinking
