I am arriving the 23rd Febryary. Are the bars open that day as I read that it is again one of their Budha days?

Yes bars are closed on the 23rd.

Well strange as things are here, bars were allowed to open last night. We received a phone call at about 7pm telling us we could open. I know that there will be alot of pissed off owners today when they find out.

Yes, I am surprised police allowed the bars to stay open this time, since they are usually strict on these buddha holidays.

I bought DVD movies on Bangla at 21-22:00 and saw maybe 50% of the bars were open, in Soi Eric just 2-3 (and no DJ) so I decided to stay closed and watch movies at home instead.

But then I may prepare to stay open next holiday instead.
