Hello
think boring is 'naa beua'...

I think I usually hear it (I'm bored) as phome ruusuk beua, or simply, Buea leew!
And my favorite, if really bored, Buea ca' tie! (bored to death)

When I'm not having fun or I'm bored, I used the word "mic sanuk" I think sanuk means happy, fun, exciting, having a good time etc, so "mic sanuk" is the opposite of that.

Attached is a sound sample (MP3 Zipped because the forum won't accept it 'as is') for 'naa bua' or 'It's boring.'

From "Thai for Beginners".

Cheers,

K.

I think you mean "mai sanuk" which means not fun.

Also yes "nar beua" is "it is boring"

I used the "Thai for Beginners book" with my course. It is quite good and I can recommend it for those who want to learn, just make sure you get the one with the CD.

It's okay, bit expensive for what it is - a digital phrase book, but with sound. You can set for male or female voice or both (random) and browse through the sections looking for specific phrases (they are not indexed) as a 'quick' reference. Otherwise each section starts with the component words and sentences and then multiple-choice exercises (hear word/phrase then pick translation from around 10 choices). You don't get the book with the software unless you buy the book and software package specificaly. I don't have the book, but the software is enough for browsing and casual learning between work jobs 8^). For proper study I have bought Colloquial Thai publoshed by Routledge which is more dialogue-based.

Cheers,

K.
