Own Phone with Thai sim card?
Hey,
I have an unlocked phone and I am just wondering is it possible to buy a Thai simcard for use when over there?
If so...Any idea how much this would cost and also in Thailand is there an option like "ready to go" or "speak easy"...basically any credit service that you can top up.
Mark.

just got one from 1-2-call, it was 250 or 300b, can't remember, including 30b credit.
easy to top up in every 7eleven, like you're used to it from home.
you can even choose between different numbers, you can get one starting with +666... if you're looking for that...
anyway, just like home, only cheaper!

Upon arrival of my last trip I bought a SIM card in the post office at Bangkok airport.
The guy at the postoffice put the One2One SIM in my phone and called a number to activate it. All very helpfull.

Be careful with orange..By far the best pricing but outside of BKK not nearly as much network coverage..
12Call or DTAC if travelling around..

What about getting the phone unlocked? I was hoping I could get it unlocked at MBK before coming down to Phuket, but I'm not sure if they do it there.

Most cell phone service providers give out cell phones or subsidize the price to entice customers into signing a contract. They put code into the phones that doesn't allow them to work with other cell phone providers. There are of course ways to hack out the lock so you can use it with another company. Some are harder to unlock then others. It seems Motorola is the most difficult. Unfortunately, that's what I have.

Very important information that I did not think about asking. I do intend on travelling Samui, phuket, phi phi, phangan and many more so it is very important that I have coverage.
If its not too much to ask do you know the rates that 12call or DTAC offer?
Regards,
Mark.

What phone do you have? My friend has phone unlocking equipment and I could get the code to unlock it for you most likely.
NOTE - Unlocking your phone will cost you the warranty if one is present but saying this I have unlocked most of the phones i've had and it didnt show any negative effect.
