Gift for 15yo daughter of girlfriend
I am coming to Thailand in a few weeks and will be meeting the 15yo daughter of my girlfriend who's birthday it happens to be that weekend.
What would be an appropriate birthday gift. I ask this question on another forum and got the following replys:
Mobile Phone - 10K+ baht(nokia with camera/video etc)
1 baht gold - 8K+ baht
ipod/mp3 player - 10K+ baht
I am not a tight git but these seem a little excessive to me. Obviously I want to make a good impression and not come across as a tight git or a rich farang fool. Although the farang fool bit is true.
Any opinions?

Sorry no recommendations, but those listed above seem to be abit over the top. Keep it simple.

Wow thats a lot of money to spend on a kid's birthday. My nephews just had their birthdays and I think I spent $50 (2000 baht) combined on their gifts here in the US.
I would imagine that unless you are trying to prove to your girlfriend that you want to take care of her and her family, I wouldnt spend that much.

seriously though, what about a good quality toy of some sort?thai girls seem to love fluffy animals ?i dont think you should spend too much on her, as it might be/will, expected in the future too

Nice gifts, but like they say, it's way over the top.
Try to find something original and unique from your country that's next to impossible to get in Thailand. That should make her just as happy.
Maybe you can buy several small (cheaper) gifts instead of just one expensive one?

Birthday gifts
How about a butt plug and a gimp mask ?
Just incase she decides to join 'the profession' in a couple of years .
Failing that, then how about a cd walkman - you can get them for about £15 (1,000 baht) at ASDA or Tesco.

55555... Mikegb I was thinking the same thing
Seriously you would be mad to pay out anything over 1000/2000bt tops, Same as you would at home, I would go for something like what Andy50 (Teddy Bear) and Mikegb (The cd walkman that is ) have recomended, Or a nice set of earings or a nice braclet you can buy over here cheap enough which she cannot sell on at a later date

i like to buy a few small gifts and make sure they are wrapped, coz i like to see more smiles than someone who might just be after one large expensive gift.

Rent a buffalo for the day and don't tell either, tie it up outside and make sure you see their faces when you take them out to see her new present.
Priceless!
Or you can get her a cd walkman they are not very expensive.

Last time I wrapped a buffalo I had big problems to get it out of the door.
So never my gift is a buffalo
