How much should i budget for??

Gents
I will be arriving in patong on the 14th Mar for 16 nights, i plan to stay in a hotel at around 1000 per night and do plan on drinking every day and perhaps having a visitor now and then, my question is how much should i budget for the whole holiday, i realise this could be very wide but any help would be appreciated.
I have asked 2 of my friends who have been over before but got very varied answers.

Accomadation around 800-1000 and food about 500...the rest on drinks....
Girls are charging 1000 LT but obviously your buying them drinks whilst at bar or disco.
Tiger and SAFARI are going off....so are most of the other bars...
Good luck and have fun.

Seriously though it all depends how much you drink and if you have a BG tagging along the whole night, But you should use this as a guideline..
Accom-1000bt
Food-500/750bt
BGs-1200bt
Drinks-1000bt/4000bt(Can really vary depending on who your with and how much you can drink)

Also if you like to play a bit of golf or do buggee jumping/go-karting etc... Or just want to get a massage some days, Then you should budget about another 1000bt/1500bt for that, Hope this helps.

Just budget for £100 a day.

Some days you might spend it, some you wont. Work off this and you should have a great time.

The worst thing you can try and do is scrimp, because this will probably be a holiday of a lifetime.

You can piss £50 against the wall in scotland and still have a shit night out.

Go beserk

Right, i have forgotten about my budget, i am so sure i will enjoy myself that i have just told my boss(read pleaded with boss) that i am taking an extra week off, so that will now be around 23 nights.

I am confused about this thread, i know there are more replies, but i can not see them when i open it, yesterday i saw that someone had replied but the only way i could read what was written was to look at thier last few posts and find it that way, the version i see now has only 3 replies when last night i found 5 i think, never mind though it was only some English bloke taking the piss out of me
see ya soon

EDIT, then i post this and can see them all, just forget about me

Angry miserable budjet

why to do a budjet ? it's free time ! I paid my flight tickets, accomodation for about 10'000 EUR (3 weeks). So why to count for a bird. At least value have to be the same as in your country, if you respect them.

Most of the time, when I was in Patong last time, I drunk Corona Beers, which are the same price as in Europe. If the girls asked 1'000 Baths I gave 2-3'000 Baths. At the end, they didn't asked me anything. Because, I was spending time in nice location, inviting them to go to eat at Sea Hag or Baan Rim Pa, etc. So budjet for me is bullshit.....

Obviously, not everyone is as affluent as you tono1.A lot of people on this forum, and I include myself, work hard to save for a few weeks in LOS and when we are there we like to watch our money and not throw it away.If a girl asks for 1000baht,why do you give them 2 or 3000.Its not a competition to show off how much money you have .Its a case of being sensible, and Simon as a newbie to LOS hasn't got an idea of how much things are going to cost him.Thats why he has to budget, and to him its NOT bullshit

Consideration of my last message

What I was meaning, was that in Europe the price is higher. So now after what they support a bit humanism will be nice. Ok not everybody can afford to give a little more, but in order to help them why not (le jeu en vaut la chandelle) !

of course sometimes a gave 500 bahts for a LT, but ....

If you want to show your nice side.... why don't you give some money to the street vendors rather than overpaying the bar girls?? If those street vendors are a bit old or esthetically challenged, they're not gonna make extra money selling their bodies are they??
That way, you give a little bit to more people (rather than just the bar girls) and don't spoil the market for everyone. Just a thought.....

Some of us were not brought up with a silver spoon in our mouths, And have learned the value of money, You say you spend 10'000euro on just flights and accom, Well good for you but we dont need you rubbing it in other people's faces because they cant, By the way my flights and accom cost me 1,400euro's for 32days, So I could pay for nearly 8trips out of what you spent for one, So whos more clever

Why give 2-3,00 when you dont need to? You obviously think they are worth it. What did you do? Talk with them? Did they make you croissants in the morning?
Good luck. You will need it...

LOS Budget

Hi Simon

As I inspect my credit card bills from the last trip to LOS I have found that my costs are coming down on each trip. The problem is that the "fairground" mentality cuts in on your first trip. You simply can't believe it. So many girls, so little time and so on. You spend money on "lady drinks" feel you are a king and have a great time. Cost - around about THB 5,000 per day or more if you go on a bender and bar fine six girls because you really cannot decide which one to take home with you.

As you become more seasoned you feel little compunction about saying "No" to the lady drinks. You are less of a target to the girls anyway, because you no longer look so wide eyed and amazed all the time, and you hold onto your money better.

Personally though I enjoyed my first trip so much that I would recommend that you do not feel restrained by money. Taking DM's advice, go for it and enjoy yourself. You simply will not have a better time anywhere. If you sit in a bar worrying about your budget you will miss out on the adventure. Be a little cautious about freeloaders and don't behave like I did!

Nevertheless the real costs for seasoned travellers go up when they find the ubiquitous "girlfriend". Those visa costs, flights and family donations do all add up. Probably more than THB 5000 per day....

I hope you have an absolutely fantastic time and DO NOT FALL IN LOVE.

Mac

The average spend for most BM's is about 5000bht per day not including accomodation if you work on this figure you won't have any problems this includes one bg per night @1000bht.

It's fairly easy to stick to this if you don't go overboard, no point in spending a fortune when it's not required to have a good time, money saved this trip means the closer you're next tour will be.

Having said this I think I was spending around 10k a day without hotel last trip without to much trouble.
