Another incident.....
Firsty I hope your wife recovers well and soon.
I have recently returned from Karon Beach Resort. A young guy there hired a bike on his first day. The policeman at the bottom of the hill stopped him for having no helmet. He argued (silly!). So off he went to Chalong to pay his fine .....on the way he fell off ruptured all the tendons in his shoulder and split it open and also hit his head andlost the sight in one eye. Only good thing was he had decent insurance and he sang the praises of the hospital.
I ride a bike at home but whilst I was in Thailand a friend of mine ex police ex driving instructor advanced motorcycle driving test was knocked off his bike by someone who pulled out on him...
Lastly the guy in Karon who has a steak place called the coffee pot has a lovely old Harley. He was telling us he had been in a scrape it wasnt his fault no one injured all sorted amicably but someone who saw the bump reported it to the Thai police next thing its all his fault and hes paying a big "fine"!
Hell I dont think I would ride a bike there apart from doing injury to yourself what if you injured someone else....even though it wasnt your fault...could be right in the doo!

Touch wood, so far no "Thai Tattoo", check out the legs of a lot of BGs and you'll find scars near the ankle where they've brushed up against a hot exhaust pipe.

7 operations and 2 plastic surgeries over 2 years on my right leg (pins, wires, a TV aerial down the front of the shin, then a bar from knee to ankle, etc etc) >250 stitches and those skin staples they use now..
3 pins in the knee (right leg) a few years before..
Right arm 4 times.. Left arm 2 times.. foot, fingers, nose, etc..
I was always one of those kids that would never turn down a dumb bet !!!

LivinLos you must set off the metal detectors big time at the airport.
Second last trip in March I got my Patong tattoo. Another fargin dog. Same leg as in the picture but only soft tissue etc damage.
The little hardware shop that I have is from a race track incident. Had broken the same ankle 20 odd years earlier, yep on a bike.
But I am a rank amateur compared to LivinLos. Do they ache much or do you just stay drunk. Mine does not like the cold.

They used to 'twinge' a bit.. Not ache exactly but feel odd and it was both cold weather and also (sounds funny) approaching storms.. I dont know if it was soemthing to do with barometric pressure but my knee would ache in a funny way... One of those 'arrr storms a-comin' type thing
And no the bar was removed so all I am left with is a few pins and airports dont beep me.. Theres a nice hole in the side of my leg where it compounded and all the white bits came out.. In the end big bits of it went necrotic and they had to remove it.. Now my calf muscle was moved round the side (I think its called a soleas flap) that and skin grafts patched it right up..
It became such an ordeal because I got MRSA in a UK hospital (where its common but they know how to administer vancomycin to treat it) and went to Holland where they didnt know about MRSA.. Total nightmare nearly had it taken off at the knee twice cause the infection was raging..
