Just heard a funny story from one of the girls. Apparently lots of farang have left Patong for higher ground, as another tsunami is due on the 11th or 12th. Can you ring up somewhere and book them now???

I was wondering where this rumour came from and found this paragraph:
Quote:
PROPHECY DISCOUNTED:Rumours there would be would be another tsunami in the South, following astrologers' predictions of a calamity on March 12, had no credibility, Information and Communications Technology Minister Surapong Suebwonglee said yesterday.
The key word is 'astrologers': so unless these morons have uncharacteristically picked up on some real geophysical information (unlikely) I think we're safe enough...

A far greater threat to civilization in Patong on March 12 is contained in this thread:

http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5920

The epicentre is likely to be about half way dowm Soi Eric

Ofcourse there was no tsunami but lot of people was scared about it.

I called an electrician to fix a cable in the bar but he told me was unable to come during March 11-12 but would come today instead, since he worried about the tsunami.

There was a 5.3 onthe 11th and a 5.6 on the 12th (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqs...uakes_all.html) just WNW of Banda Aceh (see fig. 1 - yellow = quakes in last week, orange = quakes in last day) But then again they are not exactly rare (fig. 2).

Cheers,

K.
