Hey
I fly into Bangkok and will probably stay there fore a few days. Just wondering how far it is to Phuket...patong...phiphi etc. because if phuket ain't to far from the airport we might get taxi there straight away, just an idea!
would appreciate any distances or maps you can give me
cheers

Hi Chadds
Phuket is an island just off the coast of thailand which is a 1 hour 20 mins flight from Bangkok.
Then patong beach is a taxi ride of about 1 and a 1/2 hours if i remember correct from the airport of Phuket.
And Phuket town is not near the airport or Patong beach either.
Have a look at the main site i think there some tips and maps there.

If i remember right you are going to Thailand in the summer for 7 weeks.
I am surprised you havent checked up anything about the country already.
I was in Thailand for 1 month my first time, and read everything i could about Thailand before i went.....

It wasnt ment to be any harsh comment.
Just that if such a young guy, on a tight budget is going to travel around the world, you think he would have looked for info about it before he book...
Correct me if im wrong.

Bangkok to Patong by taxi is around 9/10 hours depending on traffic (I did it in 1999). For the record, it cost 10,000 baht and aged me considerably.

It was Songkran, domestic flights were full and it sounded like a bit of an adventure. There were 3 of us as well, so not much dearer than a flight, but a hell of a lot more scary.

He didnt mean check around the internet, You can get all the imformation you need on this forum by using the search button on the top of the page, As you can imagine a lot of people ask the exact same questions as you, So you get all the imformation from the anwsers that were given to them.
After having a good look through it, If there is still stuff you need to find out about then you are more than welcome to ask and im sure a lot of BMs will tell you all you need to know, And when you come to patong make sure you visit Mai Thai Bar in Soi Eric where you will meet a lot of BMs and you can always ask nicke (Owner&Webmaster) about anything else you need to know, Im sure he will give you the right advice, Also give Love Bar under tiger a visit where Geespot(Owner&BM) will also give you any advice you need to know plus a good fu*king hangover as a bonus, Hope you enjoy your trip
PS: When are you going to phuket as I will be there from April 1st until about the 18th and you more than welcome to come for a drink with us if you are here around that time
