6.. that gets a prize ..

Saw a bike pull up at the lights with a big dog sat side saddle on the back.. He was balancing on his back legs and just touching the tips of his front legs for additional balance.. Basically a big dog stood on his hind legs for as long as the ride went..

The Dare Devils Team of the Indian Army Signal Corps achieved a motorcycle pyramid consisting of 201 men balanced on 10 motorcycles. I reckon thats 20 people per motorcycle.
Lets hope motorcycle pyramids don't catch on in Thailand.

Well the soi I am now living in seems to have a dog problem.. What pisses me off is that many if not most of them have collars on so presumably are owned and pets but they are allowed to run the road chasing and trying to ankle bite you each time you go past..

My girl nearly fell of the other day freaked out by them and so I am taking a swing at them every time they go at me.. They will learn..

Sun Hill also seem to feed the soi dogs each morning early.. encourages a whole pack around here..

Imagine if you will, a roll of carpet say about 6 feet long. Now image this roll of carpet tied on the back of a motorbike, horizontally. Now image this motorbike coming towards you overtaking a parked truck.

This is exactly what I was confronted with this morning driving home. I think I almost came to a stop, as I was laughing so much.

from phuket gazette re dog problem

KAMALA: The Chief Administrative Officer (Palad) of the Kamala Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) has denied claims that his staff have been culling stray dogs.

Sajaphol Thongsom said he had asked the Phuket Livestock Office to move stray dogs from the area around the beach after one bit a tourist, but that the dogs had been sedated and moved to the dog pound at Bang Kanoon.

K. Sajaphol added that just three dogs were involved.

The Gazette contacted the palad after receiving a number of phone calls from people claiming that Kamala OrBorTor officers had been killing dogs.

K. Sajaphol said, “About four weeks ago we got a phone called from a tourist who had been bitten by a stray dog, complaining about the local authority allowing stray dogs to be loose and biting people. The tourist complained strongly about that.

“We injected only three dogs with a sedative and moved them to the dog pound.

“We knew that if we did kill these dogs we would get a lot of complaints from foreigners again, and so we didn’t kill them.”

However, he added, “I don’t think we should always go along with what foreigners say, especially about stray dogs, because this is not their country, and we have to give priority to the safety of tourists.”

K. Sajaphol said that, in the past, he had tried to dissuade one foreigner from feeding strays around Wat Kamala. “There are many Muslim people in Kamala, and their religion makes them wary of dogs,” he explained.

“I told this woman not to feed the dogs because it would attract more of them and that would cause problems.”

Saw that in the Gazette myself.. so he is saying they didnt poison them yet doesnt exactly make a strong case against it does he ?? I am wondering if there were any economies of truth there...

The dog issue simply need to go the route of sterilization.. I would also impose heafty fines for owners of 'pet' dogs allowed to run wild or be problem animals (this could pay for some of the sterilization program).. Couple of years the issue would be very different..

I am a fan of Dogs as pets and companions but I dont think letting them live and breed around the rubbish dumps living with ticks and mange does anyone any favours, the dogs included..

yep livinlos agree owners should be made accoutable for there animals.
do they have to be registed in los, this could be a good start.
owner then know, culling wild dogs should be done they can run as a pack
and then nearly impossible to control.
the condition of most dogs i have seen in los is disgusting for tourism as well as the animal.

This has to take some sort of a prize, on the way home from Central yesterday, we saw one of those 3 wheel sidecar motorbikes, with 11 people on it.
