Your favourite restaurants
Everybody has some favourite restaurants where you like to eat because they have good food. Sometimes a hint from somebody can lead to the discovery of a new favourite. I will post my favourites and would be happy to learn about other guys tips. I will not post my bad experiences as this may be sensible.
Seafood:
- Savoey (I like Pla kapok nueng prick manao = steamed fish with chili and lemon, deep fried kang = praying mantiss shrimp, rock lobster steamed with soysauce and ginger and vegetables))
- Mister Good on second street close to Soi Bangla (brother of the owner of Savoey).
- Pran Talae ion the beach near Chalong
Thai:
- Paan Yai in Kalim Bay, nice view on the bay
- Sea Hag in Soi Wattana (the staff is 100% gay but the food is not bad
- The beach restaurants like Bernard when I am just staying on the beach in Patong
Sory but I did not try "Silk" yet
Japanese:
- Zen on the Corner of beach road and Soi Wattana has the best shashimi
Indian:
-Navrang Mahal in Soi Patong Resort (sidesoi from Soi Bangla) with their Lamb Rogan Yosh
European:
- I loved the French "La Mousson" in Soi Sawatdirak. It moved after the tsunami (for one year?) to Chalong
Pizza:
Wood fired oven, moved from near Seven Eleven to the front of Bangla Ocean and now in Soi Saensabai

My favorite seafood resturaunt is Lai Mai, have had some great dishes here, have been to Saveoy a few times, but was somewhat let down.
Another nice place is Casanovas italian resturaunt, serves great authentic pastas and very good pizzas. Marco Polo's was not bad as well....
For Thai, i like Ban Rim Pa and the Papaya thai restuaraunt in the patong beach hotel complex.
For a good steak, try Sam's steakhouse in the Holiday Inn, was quite impressed with the food in this place, and prices were fairly good as well.
Really looking forward to trying Silk on my next visit.

Karon Beach / near the traffic circle
For seafood lovers, who are on casual mode (no uniform described like smoking or black tie) ,
there is nice place on beach road in Karon, about 200 meters from Karon traffic circle towards to Kata - I think that place name is "Andaman Seafood" or something like this.
I falled in love of their selection of different size of prawns, excellent lobster, fresh fish available , mussels , crabs etc...
All this accompanied with good preparation of these fine seafoods, very attentive service ,
but - as told - this is not a place for fine French wine lovers, but more like a "dream pub" for European seafood lover
Baltic would like to go back now for dinner in this place
it's sooooo cheap there compared to my home country 5555

Some say they only eat Thai food. Sorry, I like Thai food but when I am staying 3-4 weeks in Thailand I need some change. Even some bread with cold cuts tasts marvellous after a few weeks.

Yes thats my favourite by far . That chicken royale tasted special when I was leaving patong, I know a lot of people on this board love thai food, But I am not one of them.
I do try to eat thai food but normally dont get any futher than rice and chicken/prawns with a few veg, Oh I do love some of the food off the stalls, Like the noodle soups and meat on sticks but other than that give me mcdonalds any time.
As I am not a big lover of seafood either it was kinda hard finding a nice place to eat as most of the farang food being served was kinda bland also, But I did find a place that does lovely steaks with pepper sauce and a gorgeous chinese/canton style curry (Not to hot) which tasted top class and just like home(If not better).
But I never got the name of the place but if you were coming out of c&n hotel and heading down past taipan, Its either on the corner of sansabai of the corner after it, Its an open style kind of restaurant, Anyne any ideas of which place im taking about???

That pizza joint about halfway down Bangla
No1 Seafood behind Tiger and another I can't remember the name of with big screen TV.
Red Boat was good last time on Rat U Thit Rd.
The No 1 food joint in Patong has to be the carts outside C&N at night especially when mao.

My favorite fast food...the Hot Gow and Dim Sum place on Sawatdirak road. Excellent flavor and prices. Wrapped in a bag so you can take to your room or you can sit in their storefront. Located diagonally across from the school.

Last time I was in Patong I discovered a little bakers shop next door to the Patong Pearl Resotel, straight across the road from the school on the corner of Rat Uthit Road. It's a tiny place - you could easily miss it. But they bake excellent white crusty bread, as good as any fresh bread you get in Europe, and they have all the fillings, just like a regular farang sandwich bar - tuna mayo, chicken, ham and mustard, you name it. A couple of their baguettes and a bottle of cold Singha (from the same shop) and you've got a really nice lunch. It's especially handy if you're not too keen on Thai food.
