But I have had some flights as tourist class and would rank Quantas as good average (this is my personal opinion indeed).

If price is O.K., just go with them , my personal recommendation.
Have had flights from Singapore to Perth, Perth-Sydney, Sydney-Auckland,
rest of this around-the-world tour flights were handled by another flight companies.
But this is another story as well

Baltic , back in damned cold

Flew with them over Xmas (LHR-BKK-LHR),and I have to say they are one of the best airlines to fly with.Seat back screens, food was pretty good,.....I'd definitely go with Qantas again,if "the price was right"!
Cheers,
Bonnetti

They code share with BA and are quality in my experience. Had a bust up with them a few years back but I would have to say that they are the best carrier on the route for peasant class travellers like myself. Enjoy

Although Qantas have a very good safety record, it is wrong to say they have never crashed. 7 crashes involving fatalaties since 1927 and a total of 55 dead.

to be fair they haven't lost a passenger since 1951, and this may have been under a different airline that became Qantas after a merger.
take a look at www.planecrashinfo.com

i think i was taught at school the airline was first commerical airline to carry passangers.
I also think (no facts for this) I heard no deaths also as a commerical airline
saftey record is rated as number 1
when one of the planes has some minor accident always makes papers in aus
last i can remember overshot runway i think bangkok (or asia somewhere)about 5 years ago.
but is expensive to fly with from aus other airlines cheaper IMHO

What they talk about, is that QANTAS (notice no 'U') has not had a jet fatality. They have had numerous fatalities in the prop era, and they have been extremely lucky in a few incidents of late. Its probaby only a matter of time.

I flew them regliously years ago as I'm a life member of the Qantas Club. But after numerous flights in business class and seeing the I dont give a shit attitude too much from the cabin crew, I have taken my business to Singapore Airlines.

QANTAS stands for

Q - quick
A - and
N - nasty
T - typical
A - Australian
S - service
