Finding Gold...
Not the solid stuff, trying to find some OK tequila !!
We have been messing about making 'pool drinks' lately and I am partial to margaritas and tequila itself, problem is the 'Sauza' stuff that is sold here is pure paint stripper and bears about as much resemblance to good tequila as prison bucket beer does to a hieneken.
I dont expect to turn up any '3 generations' or anything of real quality but surely there must be somewhere on this island I can get serviceable basic gold tequila ?? Something like Jose Cuervo Gold is good enough to keep me satisfied..
With the expats and bar owners on here, anyone seen drinkable tequila and if so where ??

On my next trip I am stopping at the duty free in Bangkok anyway to pick up some decent whiskey for the "family". I would be happy to pick up tequila while I'm there. The cost to you....a good margarita or six!! The downside is it will be 8 weeks before I return. Let me know if you want a few bottles.

Prom phan have gold and silver tequilas of brand names and a good selection on general for spirits.
If you come from Patong, turn right at Thai Naan restaurant and drive for maybe 1km.
But I also think Patong Whiskey should have some quality tequilas in stock because we used to order from them.

Good Tequila
Go to The Deli in Patong they have three differant types of a tequila called El Conquistidor (Silver, Reposado which I prefer, and Anejo which can be even better.) It's a tall hand blown silver bottle starts at 1700. per bottle to 1900?
Most of the time I have friends bring me stuff from the states but this is the best I have found that is legal to sell in Thailand.

Mister Fun,
I thought you could only buy duty free on outbound trips. Never knew you could buy inward bound. ???

Good point.. When you disembark there is no duty free (that I saw) and the domestic terminal (obviously) has none either... Thanks for the offer and I am sure a margarita or two can be hussled up whatever
Will have a look where reccomended..

If you fly Star Alliance, you are technically in transit at BKK (you don't clear immigration and customs until HKT) so you can avail yourdelves to the duty free shops around the transit gates.
