Wondering if any of you have spent any time in the Philippines?
Curious to know how it compares to Thailand.

Angelese City Cheaper than Thailand (a little maybee the same as Pats).. Bigger tits.. Talk great english.. Worse food.. Less to do other than mongering..
Slightly different setups in that you pay the bar in full and the girl gets paid from the bar (though a tip is deserved).. Much more of a monger place than phuket, again on par with Pats..
Manila more expensive.. Not massively but much more than angelese, Dont know enough about the place..

What do you want: nightlife or travelling around on a sightseeing trip?

I would not recommend Manila coz its to expencive. Angeles is great but no beach or anything to do except going to bars (depends on what you want, i know bars that are open from 10 in the morning).
I usually spend my time in Subic, about 2 hours from Angeles, more relaxing, nice beach, only few bars but ok (we make enough 'Angeles trips').
If you're alone and not staying long i would recommend staying in Angeles.
If you want some more info (hotels,..), just PM me.
Have fun!!

I posted this last month on a question asked by Marc26
Manilla: A lot of nightlife, less than 10 years ago thanks to Cardinal Sin (what's in a name). Nightlife before was in Ermita and Quezon City. From there some good gogobars like Firehouse and Australian Hat moved more South in Manilla. Don't know their exact position now but must be South of Traders Hotel (former Holiday Inn - under Traders good bar/gogo Isis). A lot of nightlife, especially gogo's like Jools, Ivory, Rascals and so on. Prices higher than Firehouse. Beautifull ladies, all speak English. I would recommend Manilla.
Angeles City: Former US base (Clark airfield I think. After Cardinal Sin a lot of bars and ladies moved over here. Never been there, I did Subic bay (and his yacht club) but didn't like it so much. AC must be like Pattaya if you hear Pattaya guys talking. Lot of bars and cheap. As far as I understand the ladies in Manilla are more expensive but a lot more beautifull. Check the member pages of Pattaya Pages (Trip reports).
Puerto Galera: A few hours South of Manila by bus and ferry. Beach resort with some nightlife. Went there with my friend and his wife on board their yacht, so had just a short view. There are some bars with ladies around. Many guys bring a lady from Manilla, but you can find ladies there.
Boracay: Further away from Manilla. The most beautifull beach in the world as far as I know. Beautifull white sand. Been there 3 times, once alone and twice with friend and family. One disco (la Basura). Some ladies (not much) so bring your own from Manilla.
Palawan: Very beautifull, the most beautifull island of the Philippines with El Nido and so on...but no nightlife at all as far as I know (maybe in capital Puerta Pricessa but not sure).
Cebu City: Second city of the Philippines. Some like the night life better than Manilla, not me.

Thanks for the responses guys. Much appreciated!
My ideal trip involves exploring the native land by motorbike and lounging around the beach during the day. And then by night, hitting the bar heavily! By the time I'm leaving the bar, it doesn't really matter to me whether I have a BG on my arm, a local girl or a tourist girl. As long as there's a girl.
My initial thoughts are going to Boracay and Cebu but I'm not sure how long I could spend there before becoming bored.
Ideally I would like to finish the trip back in Phuket & Samui again.

I would highly recommend Boracay. There are no words to describe the shear beauty of this island. For nightlife, it can be a good laugh with a mix of locals and tourists. I think it is becoming more popular each year so will be a lot busier than when I was there 2 years ago. Beautiful ladies, not as much of a BGs scene but still plenty of local talent looking for Mr. Right. There is a bar there, cant remember the name. But if you do 15 shots in a row you get your name put on the hall of fame wall. Worth the challenge!! They have a set menu of the shots, some are pretty nasty, only the experienced party animal will survive without a revisit of the shots shortly after.
You can fly on a domestic airline rather cheaply from Manila to Boracay (neighboring island) and then fly across to Cebu which has many more girls and better nightlife.
I would do the Manila to Boracay to Cebu to Manila route. It will be a terrific trip. Manila is full of Fls especially around the Starbucks etc at Greenville Mall (Mabye right name). If they are sitting at a table alone it means they are usually looking for company.
I loved the Philippines, beautiful women, cheap beer, stunning beaches and overall I found much cheaper than Thailand.
Go and have a blast. Jealous just thinking about your trip!!
Cheers,
Ashley

You are so going to love the Philippines. Boracay is going to knock you off your feet with its beauty. I have travelled all over Southeast Asia and Boracay is hands down the most beautiful place I have ever been. Not even a contest!!
By the way, if you are going at the end of April, beginning of May there is a large national holiday in the Philippines and loads and loads of uni students and young ladies make there way down to Boracay. They have live concerts on the beach, beach vollyball tournaments etc. It is a great great time to be there. Philippines women are hot hot hot!!!
Have a great trip.
Cheers,
Ashley

Get my vote too
I would also recommend PH. It is pretty cheap, got nice beaches, good looking gals AND most ladies speak English quite well!!!! Quite refreshing when you can actually have a conversation with someone beyond the regular Thai crap "Hello vhee u gooo", "same same", "wat ess kan I doo, I only know bombom" etc., etc... For a good laugh check out the Phil. version of the bath bus - they got this rebuild jeeps everywhere that are just classical.... Also, since PH is not as popular tourist destination as Thailand you might actually go somewhere where not everybody at your work have been which could be fun to actually be the first one of your friends that hit a place. I have to agree that Angels City probably best compares to Pattaya but again no beach and there is no Thai food. THe V vitamin is more expensive if I recall also but I might have been ripped off. On the brigther side is that in Angels it seems that it is pretty much standard that most guys take home double delivery so not the same shyness as in LOS. Then lastly I also found that if you are a somewhat young looking guy and in reasonable shape there are plenty of what stickman would call "nice" girls that are available and looking for a fun time with the hope that it might lead to something more permanent.

Actually the main person who shut down the bars(in Ermita) was Mayor Alfredo Lim(a real tosser) or Dirty Harry Lim as he was known...
The strip M H Del Pilar was one of the best entertainment areas anywhere...

If you speak of Mayor Lim, don't forget his good friend Cardinal Sin (yes the name of the Philipine cardinal is Monseigneur Sin). 200% against condoms and so, Philipine ladies may not use condoms as it is against the religion. He must be in Rome now electing a new pope.

What is the problem? Why -----? I have seen the nightlife but The Philippines is also a beautifull country, if you look further than AC. I visited the North of Luzon with Bontoc and Banave with the minorities and the ricefields on the slopes of the mountains, Mindoro, Cebu, Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Zamboango in Mindanao and Basilan Island (Island of kidnapping as they call it, the base of Abu Zayed), Boracay with the best beach in the world and Palawan with Puerto Princessa and El NIdo and again some minorities where I stayed for a few days. No toilets, no electricity, washing in the river, so definately no nightlife. A lot of nature, but a lot of places where there is no night life. Sory, I like some night life but my hollidays must be more than that alone. Nightlife is the cherry on the cake. I like visiting countries for nature and culture, the beach, watersports, golfing, good (not to say excellent) food and after all that some "refreshments".

Philipina girls are VERY exotic with extreme well STACKED. I have dated a handful of them here in the states ages 19yrs - 29 yrs old. But never visit the land before, however I have many GI american friends that still visit and claim it's awesome. They recommended "ANGLELES CITY " where it is cheaper then Thailand and girls speak better english then BKK. The problem is that you better know the culture well and don't go alone. In some part of the country near " ANGELES CITY" you don't want to get lost. There are lots of THUGS and GORILLAS with straps and ready to jack and harm tourists. I know Philipine families in the state and they claimed in Manilla ( the city ) the crooks are NOTORIOUS for pick pocketing... I love the women, but definately not a place to explore on your own without companions....

I have been to the PI 3 times in the last year, primarily for scuba diving, and the nightlife. I have not been to AC yet but everyone I know who has gone there has had fun, but there is nothing to do other then the clubs and it is primarily go go's with not a lot of bars to sit at and relax. There is also a small scene in Subic Bay. I have spent about a week in Manila and there are some beautiful women there. P Burgos Street has some good clubs, Rogues and Flamingo, and LA Cafe is like Thermae in Bangkok, lots of freelancers and good music. Live band upstairs but a lot of the girls stay downstairs until 2 AM when there is no cover. I go to Puerto Galera where there are 4 "discos" and some FL's and some great scuba diving. I have also been to Dumaguete in the southern PI for some great scuba diving and a little nightlife. Christian college there with 30K students so you can meet some at the dance clubs. Boracay is very beautiful with limited nightlife but enough girls to go around or you can bring one from AC. Cebu has a bunch of clubs. AC least expensive at 1000 pesos($1850 US) LT for BF and girl. Puerto Galera is 2000 pesos unless after 1130PM then 1500. Manila clubs 4000 to 6000 pesos but some real stunners. LA Cafe around 2000 to 3000 pesos. Cebu and Boracay around the same price as Puerto Galera. Do not go into the southernmost islands of the PI or the southern part of Palawan as that is the area that problems do occur. I have never had a problem in Manila but take taxis not jeepneys to get around there.
Have a great time.
