Forum Server Speed
I am not having a whinge, but just wanted to ask the following.
The forum site for me has been far slower than normal over the last few days.
It does not appear to be my PC, normal speed every where else.
Has any one else noticed a reduction in speed on the forum?
Could it be just a Thai to Oz problem?
Any one else in Oz noticing a speed reduction?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

The same -everything O.K.- applies for Estonia.
Internet connection to phuket-info.com was a problem after tsunami, but now no worries at all concerning server reaction time.

Hi Andy50,
price (if ordinary phone service is included) seems to be rather fair,
but have You been informed by Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) NTL Cable about Your Internet broadband connection speed figure?
Speed figure may be (following are given just as an examples , maybe one of these figures describe Your connection speed and You recognize this one)
512 kb/sec
1Mb/ sec
2 Mb/sec
in cable TV network connection (as You have with cable modem), it can be also like 8 Mb/s or even higher.
I think BMs from Singapore and Hong Kong enjoy widely such kind of the really BROADBAND service

Yeah, if this 100 mbps per customer (You) is really true, You're very lucky guy with excellent ISP service .
More seriously - this figure may be Your ISP summary service speed advertised for outer connection... or something like this.
But it is not important issue at all (You maybe know that technical freaks like me will get sometimes crazy what concerns all mbps etc similar figures ). 55555!
I apologize deeply!
However I had meanwhile used Google and ntl homepage (if it is correct web page concerning Your location) http://www.ntl.com/locales/ie/en/ath..._overview.html
gave me information that You might have:
"customers can get download speeds up to 1.5Mb and upload speeds up to 256kbps with our higher package".
But this is O.K.! Hardly You will need in close future faster connection.
Situation will change later on definitely, I'm sure. It depends on ISPs, what kind of "killer applications" they will offer to the customers in the future.
My best regards,

Mine seems ok; forums can be slow to load though. I try and clear out the temporary files in explorer quite often, and scan for viruses once a week or so as well. It all seems to help keep everything up to speed.

Strange things can and do happen when you visit suspect sites
The fix sounds alittle aggressive.

hi stevem, the good thing is that computer parts are so cheap now, compared to a few years ago ,for instance i got the the m/board for about£23- on e-bay(new) the h/d was £40-00,so its easyer to just buy the bits new-- and replace the old ,dated parts , than it is to try to mess around with old parts ill have to keep away from the dodgy sites now though, as you say !

Yea I know what you mean, and its a good reason to upgrade as well. Its even surprising how cheap parts can be brought here on the island for at the moment.
