Buddha Wedding Only
If I go ahead and have a Buddha wedding are there any legal problems with who owns what, maintanance etc... if things don't work out.

No, a Budda wedding is symbolic and not a basis of law here.. In fact even a real wedding in Thailand seems to have very little ramifications in property rights after a split (hence why TG's so often end up with the house and pickup in thier name from the get go, kind of insurance)..
I was married via a Buddist ceremony as we could not legally be married.. Not having the paper didnt bother me one bit as the symbolic agreement was done.

Thanks for that. I thought that was the case. I myself cannot have the whole civil thing either. Fair play to this girl she is quite happy just to go for the Buddha wedding only.

It all depends on the laws of the land where your going to live, like in Oz married or not, she can still take you to the cleaners.

sounds great max cherry!dont forget though, you wont own anything at all --your other half will!
if it goes pearshaped as a farang you cant own land( although you can lease it ( 30 years at a time)
if it was me, i would rent somewhere first for a couple of years to see how it goes
if a farang builds a house on land he payed for, he owns the house but not the land, his wife does,-- as it has to be purchased in her name, or a thai nationals name ,so the house is worthless to him
he could form a company and do it that way, but i cant see that working in the end

Why not ?? I know literally 100's of people / purchases that are corporate owned... Very very common practice.
Theres some minor costs but its easy and common.. I always think its far more foolish to put it in anothers name (consider if she dies, would the family have your interests at heart) than simply ensure I retained control.
