6 digit pin # on ATMs

HI guys does anyone know know if the ATMS in Thailand (Bangkok & Patong) except 6 digit pin numbers. A bank worker over here in Australia has told me that many overseas ATMs on accept 4 digit pin numbers and not 6 digit pin numbers.

HI Robb. Yeah in Aus you have the choice of 4 or 6 digit pin numbers. I have a visa and mastercard cards and all of them are 6 digits pin cards. Looks like I need to change them to 4 digit numbers before next week when we fly over to Patong.

Im not going to take the chance as its no problem to convert over to 4 digit. I would hate to get to LOS and not have play money. How boring would that be.

Hi prestagea,
I have a pin of 8 characters (numbers and letters) for both my debit and credit cards. Just use the 1st 4 characters of your pin. That's what I do in Thailand and it works every time. If any of your 1st 4 characters of your pin are a letter then you just change it to the number equivalent as on the phone keypad or ATM keypad in OZ
eg A or B or C = 2, D or E or F = 3 etc

Steve

I have a Singapore (Citibank) ATM card that requires a 6 digit PIN (for some reason they don't think 4 numbers is enough to remember when you've had a few too many)
Never had a problem with it in Patong (except for the exchange rate!!!!!!)

I have used my 6 digit pin on my ATM card and never had a problem. I used it at different banks and in different locations. I also used a visa cash passport card which I think also had a 6 digit pin.

Most of the ATMs in Thailand accept 6-digit pins. Almost all in Phuket that has that little international sign thing.

They defiently accept 6 digit codes - My cards are all 6 digit and I have no problem (unfortunately) with using the ATMS
