Please help me !!!
Hi peeps,
Great forum, now for my first post...
I'm travelling to Thailand on 15th May for the first time with the wife and kids. I've got two nights in BKK then two weeks in Phuket.
Problem is... I'm a footie fan and my team are playing in the European Champions League Final on 26 May at 3.45am local time. Are there any bars that will be showing the game live? If not, will it be broadcast live on sattelite TV in my hotel room?
That's the important issue dealt with !!
Second question, I've read that the monsoon has arrived, can I expect some sunshine inbetween the rain? (Wife's question!).
Thanks, Can't wait to see you all !!

I would be suprised if you will nOT find a place to watch this!
I am not that familiar with Patong, but even "the green man" full of expats, on the road Kata-Phuket never miss an opurtunity like that to watch it on a big screen!
Ask around for such a specific places in Patong, and find you will!

Normally most bars can show such events, but as 3.45 is late in the night I guess just few (sport?) bars will stay open and show it. Otherwise make sure your hotel have that sport channel.

You won't have a problem watching it as it comes live on ESPN in most hotels, we watched Liverpool get through to the final last week in our hotel. You will also find the odd late night eating/drinking place showing it as well. There are alot of Liverpool fans in Thailand, they are crazy about football!

weather
Hi Navara,
For weather, check this site http://www.alexmalcolm.net/
He has a "weather" option and it's updated day by day, more intresting than weather website sure.
... but, i'm afraid you will have some rain.... but May is normally the most wet month in Thailand, so you can hope rain 20 minutes a day and also a lot of sun.
Each year is different. Last year I was there at this time and had only sun, no rain at all... and now it's raining a lot. Another year, I went in March and only rain almost all days.... and I know many people who went to Thailand during moonsoon and had good weather. Just hope
For football, sorry, I am not a fan, but many rooms have satellite tv, so i wouldn't worry about it

May is normally right OK, but this year we had more rain this month than before. The worst month used to be September or October, but it can difference between the years. When I come here 1999 both May/June was VERY WET, the years after ity was perfect holiday weather. In 2000 December was very cold, you had to wear a jacket if you drove the motorbike in the evenings.

As far as I know it will be shown at 1.45am, Thats the time I watched all the liverpool games in april but I cant remember when the clocks go back or if they did already, If they did it will be shown at 2.45am.
Also you will be able to watch them in one of the bars on soi sansabai, Either didi's or the bar just down from it, cant remember the name but its directly across the road from superstar, Most of the shutters will be down but the entrance will be open and you will find a lot of fellow liverpool fanatics in there, Hope this helps mate.
Come on the Reds

thanks to everyone
Me again!!
Thanks for your replies, must be the friendliest board on the web.
I'm staying at the sheraton laguna at Bang Tao beach but I will visit Patong most days and nights. If you see me, (wife and kids 3 and 11) shout Navara!! and I'll get the beers in.
Great response, Tony.

I doubt you even need a sports cahnnel. I'm sure the Champions League final is shown on Thai terrestrial TV, certainly used to be.
Good luck trying to get taxi's back up to Bangtao Beach after a night out in Patong.....
