It's something you will understand once you have visited the country. It's surreal and anything is possible. From 5 kids under the age of 12 riding down the street on the one motorbike to the woman.

Nah mate your right they know when to smile or not. I always find it amusing how they sit there smiling at some guy who thinks she's the love of his life and then as soon as he turns away the smiles gone. But really who can blame them !

WOW!!!!!!!! i actually agree with andy50 for the first time EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
When i was living in patong a couple of yrs. ago i had a very close friend named meiuw from the bluestar bar in soi seapearl (she is stunning u guys should check her out) anyways, whenever i would first walk or drive up on the motorbike she would be sitting outside of the bar on a stool staring into the sky and even though she was one of the most beautiful girls i have ever seen she also had the saddest eyes that i had ever seen. she told me that it was because she had 2 baby boys (saw pics. and stretch marks so i know she wasnt lying) and the guy she had them with abandoned her and the babies so she had to come to patong (she was from the northeast) to work.....the worst part is that her mom raised the babies BUT......her sons did not even know that she was there mother so when she would go to visit they did not even know who she was except for maybe a far off aunt or something. her and her family chose not to tell them and instead to tell them that her mother was actually their mother so it would be easier on them i guess. ANYWAYS.....she was so , so beautiful but her eyes could break your heart in a second. even when she smiled if u really looked into her eyes it was almost too much. When i left i gave her a bunch of money to send home becuase i was there in the summer and it was sooooo slow even for the prettiest girls like her, and she would never buy anything for herself so i hoped maybe she would after i left or something. (if any of u go to see her she is the meiuw with the long hair to her waist and it used to be reddish brown , tatoo of a she-devil on her arm, and she is smaller than all the others, there are 2 meiuws now at bluestar) tell her heather from usa sent u.

maybe u just didnt see her when she was working?? anyways i am very close to duk who owns rock n dice bar in seadragon and she had some very pretty girls when i was there, but it was at the end of 2002 so maybe they moved on or married a customer.

i may have some of meuiw in storage , i dont think i have any of the rock n dice girls left but if this helps u.....gita, very skinny rose tatoo on left shoulder, about 26 by now ; oi, also painfully skinny (too much yaba) fake boobies, black hair cut just under her chin, no tatoos at least when i was there , belly ring; sarah, blonde hair, tattoo on back just under hair line that says "vampire girl" also dragon tats on the outside of her thigh, blue contacts, curvy but not fat (perfect) , natural breasts, pierced tongue, diamonds on her upper k-9 teeth, when i left she was getting more tats on her thighs, very beautiful but maybe not now with all the tats. wanted to look like a vampire so had her front upper teeth done so they looked that way....dont ask me????????? when i left she had bleached her hair again from red back to blonde. despite all the weirdness she was VERY PRETTY, made more $$$$ than alot of girls, had a customer send her 300,000 baht for her b-day when i was there. he must have been very in love.
duk is the older lady who owns rock n dice i have no pic. her daughter joy is my age and goes to college in the USA in florida, very nice family.

Not gone with any and I suspect that after the time you have spent away that many or most will not still be where you think.. they tend to be fairly mobile to say the least, a couple of years is a long time in a BG's working life !!!
I did meet and talk to Gita and Meuw (and Duk) on your behalf though..

its still their choice though, they could quite easily work in a shop or factory or in a paddy-field, like most other thais do,
they made the choice to make their living by working in bars ,and entertaining us farangs , nobody forces them to do this, they could finish bar work any time, and change their way of life. but the money probably would,nt be anywhere as much as they get in the bar ,so i dont feel guilty !in fact im quite happy to have their company !

Its a very complex issue.. to say they could quit is all well and good but socio economic pressures are not that simple.. Feeding family, taking care of kids, sick parents etc.. All these things are obligations that create immense pressure.. There is no social state here to help and the grinding poverty of many of the people |
