I have a friend who's thai wife had the op. Years later it got infected & they had to take out the fake cartilage. She now is back to wide nose with a big
scar down the middle. If you don't want it tell her so & tell her the risks...

Exactly how bad is her nose ? Is this just vanity from a world influenced my media where everybody had to look perfect ?
How about showing a pic of your wife here and let us be the judge.
My view on cosmetic surgery is that only people who have badly disfigured faces etc,,, should have treatment which is understandable.
Ladyboys of course need surgery because they feel they were born on the wrong body and I feel that kind of thing is acceptable too.
Anything else is pure vanity and I think unless your wife's nose is particularly grotesque and the cause of lifelong misery, she should try to love herself more for what she is and accept that beauty begins with a warm smile and comes from within.

My tilacs friend just had nose surgery to make the bridge of her nose bigger.
Some Thai's want a falang nose.
I on the other hand I just love their little button nose's and would not change a thing.
Now the girl's friends are making fun of her as they think her nose looks funny (I haven't seen it yet) and she went to the doctor and his reply was that her friends are now jealous of her.
The previous hospital mentioned in this thread would probably be my choice as well.

Im sorry but, that realy made you sound like George Bush
I remember quite long ago, with the cloning research in US before Bush became president they were taking huge steps against curing diabetics with their research. However George Bush thinks its wrong because it has to do with altering the genes, and that is not the natural christian way.
My point is:
Just because it's new it doesnt mean that it's a bad thing.
I mean lets say you are not comfortable with your current look. And its making you feel bad, it's not about such a simple thing as vanity. I guess if you dont have any complex at all it would be hard to understand.
Hope i didnt offend you in anyway, that is not what i was trying to do.

Don't worry, Bush will not be in office forever and once other countries invent things to help the world maybe the next president will be more open to advancing research in that field.
The only problem then is that once we find cures for everything we are in a Brave New World situation with no one dying except by accident and extreme old age and that will be a real test of our finite resources on earth as starvation and other things would cause a lot of problems.
Cloning would have to be regulated in some way as we would not want 100's of Saddam Hussein's, Osama Bin Laden's, Hitler's, etc. running around. We would not mind more hot BG's running around though. Maybe in the future we could have a little Phuket here in California.

Not as much cloning as it would help to protect against birth defects, such as heart problems, respiratory problems, but also herrited diseases.
Sure in theory it has been said that you can alter and change personal traits aswell as physical apperance, but thats definitly not what im talking about here hehe.
Im not talking about mass manifacturing baby robots that all look like Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt
It's simply DNA research in medical purposes that George Bush is against.
If you could choose between giving birth to a healthy or a sick child what would your choice be? Id say you're pretty much demented if you say that you want to have a sick child.

draft HIS kids........
i say send the bush twins to IRAQ!!!!!!!!!!! as un-patriotic as this is ....someone needs to seriously get rid of that man. think about it, as if it wasnt bad enough before now EVERYONE hates americans because we invade countries that are not even a direct threat to us, now our president (i say that word lightly) is trying to put the brakes on one of the most ground breaking scientific / medical advances in decades (not to mention that it could repair / save millions of people) .....too bad that guy in russia missed with the grenade.......sigh. p.s. if one of the bush daughters suffers a spinal cord injury in the future ....then watch the tables turn, the $80 billion per yr. for the invasion (not emancipation in my opinion) of iraq will oh so quickly be deemed "necessary funding" for stem cell research!!!!!!!!
needless to say....i voted for the other guy.

I agree with both of you that the benefits way outweigh the negatives. Once someone else gets in office or the research becomes a huge money making source for the countries that allow it and the companies that are doing it the US will come around. US citizens could always go to the countries that have allowed the research and have therefore developed the cures.
Unluckily we(the US) are still in a post 9/11 frame of mind and also locked into a very conservative government for the next few years so we will be allowing Asia and Europe to get a jump on us and hopefully they will make some astounding gains and force us to compete with the rest of the world.
I, for one, have skin cancer, non melanoma so far, and would love to see that disease disappear before I succumb to it.
I say, Europe and Asia, go for it and force our hand. The elimination of things like birth defects and anything that could be developed to help third world countries would be a big plus and also would alleviate some of the worldwide tension between the haves and have nots.
Now if only we could all agree on one religion or at least let all religions live in peace and not be deemed inferior to any other as that has been a problem since history began.

I'm not offended in the slightist, but quite honestly I don't think you offer anything of a valid point here.

People are funny. My sister had nose surgery to make the bridge of her nose very small and to make the nostrils wider. I always thought it made her look funny, a little bit like a clown. But I never told her that. She is very happy with it, and that is the main thing!
BTW there is a plastic surgery clinic on Sainamyen. When you turn onto Sainamyen from Rat-U-Thit, it is at the end of the block on the left with a big sign on the building. You can't miss it. I don't know how good they are. Bumrungrad in BKK has the best rep.
