Bob the Builder

Help, I am booked at the Burasari in July.Does this mean the place is surrounded by a building site.
Checked on the site but most of the relevant info seems to be in Thai. Can anyone translate a basic summary.
From the looks of some of the photos its seems that building has already commenced.
I picked the Burasari because it seemed to be a little out of the way and therefore a little bit quieter.
Will I be spending my time looking at builders b*m cleavage instead of the other type.
Any info would be appreciated, as I still have time to change my hotel if needed.
(Do Thai builders have b*m cleavage or is that a British thing??)

Jungceylon is on second road close to Bangla. I should say where there was a 7-11 before. Burasari is next to Holiday Inn if I am correct. Still a good distance. Many would take tuktuk to go from one to the other.

phuket gazette report....

hi

i got to the company webite via report in gazette earlier today, looks a great piece of building work and a major investment pity it's not opening as planned with delay to October 2005

and glad to see that builders mess up costs all over the world not just uk....40 million over-run

but still looks a nice investment

I agree,

i think that it will be the central point for ppl not wanting to lay on the beach. They are having a cinema, shops and a food hall... its going to be more popular that the new shoppings that have sprung up around phuket town i think

I can't see that being the case, even when I was last in patong last November - the development looked too far gone to pull out now.

Its a Shinawatra family project (nephew ?) it will be refloated..

The coosts however are rapily getting to the point where it will need to charge a huge amount to make a fair return..

When the project was launched it was a 2 billion baht project, a lot of money. Now it ends up at 5 billion. Crazy amounts, but good for Patong.

But I hope the shopping center will not be boring like the Central Festival, big shops with little to offer and only expensive brand names. If tourists were to buy expensive brand names then they probably do it at home instead.

My favourite shopping places;

1. BigC and Tesco Lotus
2. Ocean Group stores
3. Robinsons
4. Central Festival

I am looking forward to a cinema in Patong. I will for sure watch more Thai movies.

I like Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya , has good shopping and restaurants, multiplex cinema and a Ripleys believe or Not theme park area on the top floor, with several side attractions.

I even had my hand cast in wax up there, this new development could do with a few interesting things like that to make it worthwhile.

Burasari Hotel

Don't worry about the Burasari. The one you are booked in is opposite the Holiday Inn.

It was damaged in the Tsunami but re-opened in April. I stayed there when I went back in April. I was in the Banthai at Christmas, but tha's not open yet.

The Burasai is a nice hotel, good location nice staff and the rooms are first class. You will have to pay for guest to stay.

The Comfort resort next door is currently damaged and there was no buiding work going on when I was there, but they may have started to re-build it. So you may be facing a building site. But as Frank said......That's Life!

I will never setfoot in that place again.. Rude rude RUDE to my wife and very non friendly for joiners guests (guests getting hassled if they leave without you etc)..

I let it slide the first night or so assuming a genuine mistake and discussed it with management.. When they continued to treat her like crap (we booked in together so she was as much as a paying guest as me) all the way through from the doormen / security to front desk staff etc we checked out after only 2 nights..

Nice hotel shitty attitude..

it amazes me how some of these hotels treat these girls. i understand they have an image to protect and they dont want bar girls running around there hotels, but they should be able to distinguish between the two. i would suggest if you are with a thau girl and in a small place like phuket, you are better off staying a at asmaller boutique hotel where they are more familiar with their guests. i presonally have never had a problem when checking in with a girl, but ive heard some stories
on a similar note, i was with my old tg and her mom and we went to eat at the soi off beach rd that zen, japanese restaurant is on. my gf wanted to eat at this place orchids, she walked ahead with her mama while i looked at some clothes. when i caught up my gf was upset because the thai people working in the restauarnt were rude to her and her mama when they wanted to be seated, asking hem why they wanted to eat there. we went to the place next door, happy family, and have been going there weekly ever since. that night, when i was alone, i stopped by the 1st place and talked to the owner and blasted the restaurant and wondered why thai people could discrimanate against other thais
