Deported from Thailand
I READ THIS IN PHUKET GAZZETE
HE HE,I FEEL REAL SORRY FOR THIS DAVID MORRIS
Am I blacklisted?
In Pattaya last month I did a stupid thing; I took a towel from a hotel. The police were called and I was arrested. I was taken to court the next day and fined 1,000 baht, then handed over to Immigration. I was deported a few days later.
There is now a red stamp in my passport stating that I was deported. Can you please tell me if I will be allowed to come back to Thailand anytime soon?
Wednesday, July 14, David Morris, UK.
“Usually, under Thai law, you would not only be fined for theft but would be sent to jail, but perhaps in your case, as a first offender, you were put on probation.
The red stamp indicates that you contravened Immigration Law Section 12. There are many paragraphs in this section, but I imagine that in your case the red stamp means that you are a menace to society.
If there is a red stamp in your passport you will not be allowed into Thailand ever again. ”
Wednesday, July 14, Pol Col Vittavat Buranasompop, Superintendent, Phuket Provincial Immigration Office.

This came up for discussion on Thaivisa.. Seemed that the 'towel' was not all this fella was guilty of and remember it was his side of the story...
As for the suggestions above..
Removing a page.. Eveernoticed the numbers on pages... get caught big problem (thai jail time)..
Lost passport.. would have worked 5 years ago (hopefully) in the mountian of paperwork.. Now immigration is getting computerised and passports are machine readable listing your passport history.. Not safe..
Irl relative doable.. Name change by deed poll (I have done this myself), doable..

Thailand is a Bhuddist country, so the question should is whether the ban only applies to his present incarnation..?

How did he steal the towel?
Did he live at the hotel and then took it when checking out?
Obviously there has to be more to this, Hell I have a towel from Kamala Bay garden here, obviously i did not walk in to the hotel with a gun demanding that i need a towel. It was just packed down with the rest of stuff in the 3.5 min we had to pack our bags before evacuating the hotel a second time during the Tsunami.
Anyways what i am trying to say is that in NO WAY you would get deported for taking a towel from a hotel you would simply be charged for the towel and thats it, if even that.

On the other hand, if the fine was only 1000baht then it must have been something very trivial he was found guilty of. A red stamp as well seems a bit harsh.

Read LIL's posts, states that the towel was not all that was involved.
