What do you do when missing Phuket?
What do you to do when missing Phuket/Thailand ?
Okay, so Phuket is fantasy land to some extent…and most of us have to return to the reality of less sun and fun….so how do you all plod through the dull days of ordinary life at such times?
I am getting depressed!

Your a lucky man IJ 3 or 4 times a year sounds great! I don't really get depressed I am normally to busy saving for the next years trip. The quickest I have managed so far was a 9 month turnaround.

what i do
As soon as i arrive at work i start the countdown to my next trip, its always hard but the countdown from 30 does not take too long, leaving after my first trip i suffered serious depression and could not work very well, but i am sure it will not take me long to become accustomed to it.
another thing is that after my last trip, when back in Africa i found that i was not bothered to stay longer hours at my workplace, i knew that i could have fun when i was back in LOS and did not need to enjoy myself on my worktime.

Like Littlenose I just basically start planning the next trip right away and that gives me something to look forward to. Other than that just try and occupy myself with things that take my mind off the place which is difficult and read the forum alot. Not long now though now until next trip then back to it again.

First time I got back I was seriously depressed and having to wait 8months for my next tour didnt help either but this time for some reason I am not as bothered, I dont know what it is but I was actually glad to be home after 32days straight on the piss, It starts to take its toll and on top of that I was finding the food even harder to eat (making me sick) at the end of my tour, So it has been really good being home to detox and get some good grub inside me, Dont get me wrong though I will be back in Los for crimbo and then in July again for a month each time (And I am going to make that a yearly thing), And thats something else that I noticed, When I went for 10days on my first tour I didnt really get a chance to really get into it before I had to go home but when your there for a month you have a much better time and therefore dont miss it as much (Well me anyway).
At home during the week, I just put my head down at work and get on with it (Dont go out during the week) then I go out at the weekend, Either to the local, A niteclub, pool hall, cinema or just chill around my mates gaff with a few tins and a few girls if were lucky

Ok, you are depressed nOT being in los land?
Think about this:
Bg's love you if your wallet is full! My friend had all these nice girls in the appartement next to me, he really fancied to get the prettiest girls out there!
One day, he was sitting on his porch alone!
He ran out of money and no girl wanted to get home with him that night, because the Thai tam-tam went around about his financial problems.
I love Thai people, but I got some quit agresive reactions of some, dating a TG (T is important here!). Same girl you know too!
Los are smiling faces, but I have been robbed several times. You are the most important thing in live, because you are income!
Yes!!!! I am exerating! "Good for you", because you got Post Los blues! And never forget 1000 bath is much more money to Thais then to Farangs!
And maybe there is just a lovely white girl around the corner, dreaming about a pilot, who would not even care about bath, but just to spend a wonderful night with you tonight, without thinking about the bath to send to her family!

For me, its reading the forum and riving the head off it
If I cant get to read the forum, then I just rive the head off it anyway.
After having had 10 tours of duty I am much better at handling 'normal' life back in the UK.
I know that its going to take a few years for my master plan to start bearing fruit, so im mentally prepared that once a year is the way it is.

Log in to Phuket-Info.Com
Look at Asian porn on the net.
Go to bars in SF where Asian girls hang out.
Got to Thai restaurants and talk to the waitresses in Thai.
Go to the Thai classes at the wat in Berkeley. It is a little bit of LOS in US. Lots of hot TGs!.
Go to the gym.
Go to movies.
Play guitar.
Talk to girls on the phone(once in awhile I even date one!).
My first tour I had no LOS Blues after, but was dying to go back.
Second tour, LOS blues were bad, lingered for months. Didn't know about the Forum then, had no one to talk to about it, as all my friends were sick of hearing of LOS.
Third tour, extremely bad LOS blues after for a month, but then not so bad. The Forum helped a lot.
Fourth tour, moderate LOS blues lasted only a few days. Got caught up in events here so quickly, that there wasn't much time for blues, but also this time I realized that there are a lot of things here that I missed when i was in LOS, like my kids, my own cooking, playing guitar, going to my gym(the one in Patong sucks big time), sleeping in my own bed(I love to sleep), and even just speaking English to people who speak and think like me.
When I am in LOS, most of the time I feel like I am dreaming, and I don't sleep as much as I should when I am there, and don't dream much at all, since it seems like dreaming when I am awake there. At home, I don't have or want too much excitement in my life. I like to relax after work, which is very stimulating and sometimes very exciting. I sleep a lot and dream for hours every night. Sometimes I just prefer to dream when I am asleep, and not when I am awake. It seems good to have a balance. I had a great tour last time, didn't want to leave, and thought that I would really get the LOS blues bad when I got back to the US. It didn't turn out that way at all.
Of course, I miss the girls, but not as much as before. After my first trip, I didn't want to date farang ladies again, but now I am back at it. I imagine I will have had my fill of them by the time I return to LOS.
I can understand the guys who say that they get over the blues by planning their next trip, and thinking about that a lot. I don't do that anymore. Not at all. I'll get there when I get there and that will be soon enough for me. The days seems to fly by at a rapid pace nowadays, and before you know it, that day will come, and I worry more about whether I can get done all the things I need to do in my life before then, and never stress about how far off it is. I also like being sober most of the time, and not drinking a lot.
JayBee
P.S. But there is one thing that I really really miss from LOS an awful awful awful lot every day here. That's Tuk, my masseuse! Irrepressible! Irreplaceable. I miss her non-sexual massages much, much more than I miss the great sex with BGs.

Ah-h-h, Tintin, you not only hansum man, you velly lucky man!!
How much do they charge for that in France? There is a Thai lady here that does traditional Thai massage, and I have heard that she is very good, but charges $160 for the two-hour massage.
For the price of 4 or 5 massages, I could be in LOS!!

I look over the pictures that I have taken when I was in LOS, and re-live the nights and days out there. Right now, I am planning something for December, it will be 1 year and 4 months since last time I went. August of 2004 seems soooooooo LONG AGO! I remember coming back from LOS, I did not want to return to work. I thought seriously about moving there. I guess its like a disease, once you get a taste of it, you cannot let go. DAMN YOU LOS

Its quite sad, but ive started watching Asian cooking programmes on telly! Like that "Far Flong Floyd" and " Douglas Chew cooks Asia".
Though i still havent got around to do any asian cooking from them, but the odd glimpse of Bangkok or Hong Kong seems to take some of the depression away!
