Please no offence, just curiousity on my part. ... Why is it not right? I confess I forsee difficulties ahead for the couple, associated with the age difference, but I don't understand the right or wrong aspects you mention. ...

Relevance of age to type of relationship

4. The advice of not marrying a bar-girl is generally true, though there are plenty of exceptions (me for example). The success rate of BG / farang marriages is maybe one in five. If you take the girl back to your country, the odds get even worse. If you move to Thailand the odds get better. Thais are like fine wines, in general, they don't travel well.
Also, most of the sucessful marriages are not with the stunners. They are far too up themselves and too selfish to make a marriage work.

Another insightful and thought provoking post but when it comes to large age gaps, if one is happy with with relatively short term relationships, then I would have thought a large age gap is irrelevant. However, I'm sure it is true to say that it is highly unlikely that a young woman in her 20's would truly love a man in his 60's.
If I am living in LOS in my 60's and I want a true companion, I think I will look for a woman in her 40's but if I am happy with short term companions and I am still physically fit and able, I will be inclined towards younger women.
By the way, I am delighted to see so much input from middle aged guys like myself. I feel encouraged to keep myself fit and look forward to many more happy years of holidaying in LOS.

Social Norm,
Agree 100% with what you say. For short term relationships, age difference is irrelevent.
I was sitting in the Ship-Wreck Bar on Soi Bangla one evening, just watching the action, when I got chatting with a couple of Aussie ladies. They expressed mild disgust at seeing middle-aged fellas with young Thai hotties in tow.
So, I asked them why it was nobody found it disgusting that people like Rupert Murdoch, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, Michael Douglas and countless others of the "Rich and Famous" could have young wives or, lovers with 20 to 30 year age differences, yet when your average man did it, they found it distasteful.
To give the two ladies their due, they did admit the hypocracy, but still couldn't explain why there is one rule for the celebreties and another for the average Joes.

I had this conversation before and the conclusion the ladies I was with was that it is okay because they know and can undertsand that the ladies with the rich and famous are with them because of their money, fame and power and that in their opinion was okay. But as the ordinary guys did not have any of these three things then it must be the guy that was perverted. I have given up long ago trying to figure out womens logic or lack of it. To be honest though we do all tend to stereotype our judgments because what do we think or feel when we see it the other way round, the older women is a bit of a tart? easy lay? nymph? I just think excellent, one less young guy competing for the younger women.

Good show Sir Burr. I agree that my relationships with girls in their 20's will likely only be transitory at best...although one has been going on for five long years. However, you know that if I really wanted to settle down I could probably get a young lady to look after me for the rest of my life...particularly if she comes from a not wealthy background.
Anyway, at my age the chase is a real turn on. I have non bar girl fiends in their early thirties very interested in me? To bed them until they are more than satisfied is a real ego booster. Can't help it old chap. I look forward to doing the same thing well into my seventies...we shall see....we shall see.

Me too but...
I have seen young girls (early 20's) who cannot hide the distaste they feel when going with old men. I could not go with a girl if she found me at all distasteful. If I couldn't find a young girl who was genuinely happy to go with me, I would find an older woman rather than take a young girl who would go under duress.
I am unable to take pleasure from a girl unless she is happy and comfortable at the same time.

I think that's a good "rule of thumb" to go by SN
I was with a girl one night and after an hour l could see she was not into it even though her friends were urging her to go with me.......but in the end l said to her that l was not feeling too well and needed a good nights sleep.

i am not talking about 60's and 70's, nut i know many attractive mid 20's girls that prefer to go with men in their mid 40's, early 50's. less bullshit i guess, and, for some reaon, they think that an older guy is less of a butterfly

Actually, the girls do like guys in their 40's and 50's. This is because they are less demanding in bed and they have more money.
As one of the girls said to me about young guys "day puk me all night and only want to gib me litten money"

Can somebody explain to me these little boxes below the posts number? Some are green, some are red and the amount of boxes doesn't bear any relation to the amount of total posts. I'm flummoxed.

If you click the 'scales' in the top left corner of a post you can either see the rep awarded to you for that post or award rep to another BM if its thier post...
Look at your CP now..

And also.. The more 'rep' someone has the more rep points thier opinon of a post awards (both pos and neg).. So long term users of the sites opinion counts more than a new members opinion...

I have seen the scale of points regarding the reputation and the corresponding description, but how many points neg do you get for instance from a long term user and how many from a short term user?

Need helpful Info
To All, I'll be making my first trip to Thailand in October. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about it so I can have a great trip. I'll be there 12 for vacation. My main concern at this time is getting around. Hopefully my trip will start either in Bankok or Pattaya Beach, I plan on visiting both, I want to attend the Full Moon Party around the 18-21 of October and I would love to do some sight seeing while I'm there. Yes, I plan to spend sometime with the ladies. But I'm not interested in spend a lot of time in bars. I rather just go there to meet a lady and leave. I'm coming from a Combat zone and will be returning once my time is up. Any information you can give me on getting around especially when it involves a great distance such as from Bangkok would be greatly appreciated.
