Lightbulb Traveling with parents !

Hey !
Me and my parents, (im 18) are organising a holiday for sometime around January-February next year. So far we have decided to visit Bangkok, since my mums friend can get good rates etc, so we will stay there 5 or so days. Then we would like to travel to a nice tourist resort where my parents and i can basically lay back, lap up the sun, and enjoy life. I wouldnt say we are "rich" but my mum is very picky and clean, so she would want a resort which offers spa's, CLEAN rooms, great service etc, and activites like yoga, and a gym etc. We are looking for somewhere kind of close (south east asia) where we can go after the hussle and bussle of Bangkok. We would stay for around 5 days, now, with the tsunami etc, how is that effecting the islands around Thailand, ive already been to phuket, my parents were thinking of Bintan island which is just of the coast of singapore? but we arnt sure, basically i want a nice resort with great service and is clean, where i can meet tourists my age and relax and do soem activites, and they can lie back and enjoy themselves. Im open to all suggestions, im not to worried about Bangkok, since i have a mate who lives there who i met when he was studying here in Melbourne, Australia.
So shoot away, if you have anymore questions just ask

If you don't want to return to Phuket, then how about Langkawi?

The perfect place for you travelling with your parents is HUA HIN NICE BEACHES, good hotels ,and you dont need to fly to get there only a 2000 bhat taxi ride (2 hours 20 minutes) get the taxi from your Bangkok hotel. good nightlife (no gogo bars). My mother has been there with her sister and they loved it dont go to cha am it is too quiet!. MY mother also visited Pattaya on the same holiday and she tells people that she did not see anything there that offended her and she would return there anytime. But personally although i love Pattaya i have to say it is a single mans paradise and i would not recomend it for couples or familys HUA HIN is the place to go or if you are prepared to fly then KHO SAMUI (LAMAI BEACH) is another good place. I have not mentioned Phuket simply because i have not been there yet after 18 visits to Thailand i will finally go there on 31st October this year

I have just come back from Thailand recently and did the same sort of thing..
If you want a good 4star+ quality hotel in a good spot ie shopping/nightlife, i can recomend the Pathamwan Princess. We stayed here for 5 nights really nice good quality hotel with all amenities. Best part is it is close to Patpong and Sukumvit Rd and the hotel is connected to the MBK Shopping centre, which is one of the biggest in Thailand (i think) so you don't have to leave the complex if you don't want, because it has everthing.
As for some time to kick back, we went to Koh Samui. Perfect place to lay back and chillout. We stayed at the Baan Samui (which we really enjoyed), but other nice places are the Amari Palm Reef and the the Chaweng Regent. Samui was really great, have been to Phuket a few times and absoultley love the place, but really enjoyed samui as well. Quiet by the day, but at night the place comes to life.... and if your into it, there were some pretty fine european chics on the beaches.
If phuket is not an option..... then check out samui

Ok, I now am thinking 2 things, either Koh Samui, or Bintan Island (just of the coast of singapore)

Im looking at the Chaweng Regent Beach resort, where is this place in so far as locations to things. And also since im going with my parents, i wonder if any rooms have 2 beds, like 1 double 1 single, so i can get SOME privacy

Are there any other high class resorts on Koh Samui you would recomend ?

Ok, it now seems that we are going to do 3 days in phuket, 2 in Bangkok, and then go back to phuket for 3 days. How does this look? and what would you suggest ? I dont want to feel bad going to phuket after all the tsunami, and people thinking its taking advantage of the situation... Can you guys help me out please
