Health Forum

I was idly wondering if a Health Forum might not be a useful/responsible idea.

Of course 99% of the posts would be about viagra/cialis etc. and clap clinics, and it might be seen a openly addressing the real reasons people frequent this board and travel to LOS -these motives are not exactly buried deep beneath the surface. On the other hand, it might encourage open debate and thoughtful contributions not just on the obvious subjects like condom use, performance 'enhancers' and sexual health checks, but also on the need for vaccinations (Hep A/B/C, thyphoid), care with drinking water, where is malaria a significant risk, what food to eat or avoid, how to get/find treatment. There are also the frequntly asked questions about cheap cosmetic procedures like dental laser and refractive surgeries. The more I think about it perhaps splitting it into sexual and general health matters might be considered.

So, whereas it may be considered as admitting to the baser functions of this board - and its members - I think a more open and perhaps quite heavily-moderated health section would be a valuable and responsible feature.

Just a thought,

K.

Exclamation

In its basic form a health forum could be good. However, one of the greatest dangers is a self diagnosis followed by self treatment after taking some well meaning advice.
Unless you are a healthcare professional any advice given can, at best, be well meaning but open to interpretation. The prime example of this is the use of antibiotics. The body actually can build up a resistance and unless the use is well controlled can cause an increased risk of side effects and in some cases death.
There are many sites on the net where specialist advice can be sought but they always carry the warning that you should consult your GP.
Even some well known herbal remedies react badly with other medication(ie St Johns Wort".
What works for one person may cause an adverse reaction in another.
General advice re adresses of clinics, liver transplants etc is ok but healthcare is best left to those qualified to give it.

simple medical advise for a safe stay in Phuket

Drink as much beer as you can (preferably at MTB)
Exercise every day (preferably in the night with a BG from MTB )

Take this prescription once a day and stick to it the entire stay and you will be ok
