no concept of time zones?
do you guys have this problem? the 2 girls that i talk to will call me at anytime. no matter how many times i tell them the time zone difference they just dont get. they understand that theres a difference but cant seem to comprehend what time it actually is. and america is easy, its exactly 12hrs differnce, so i tell them if its 330 in the afternoon for you, its 330am for me!

Talbotman
When i lived in London i used to regularly be in bed about 3 am in the morning and the phone would ring. I would look at the clock and instantly 99% knew where the call was coming from used to try to ignore it but one of my flatmates would always answer it and then call on me to come to the phone.
even worse i have always been careful since moving back to scotland only to give my email address and mobile number out, since i am a big mummys boy living with my mother but once stupidly i bought an overseas telephone card from the post office to call my girl in Hua hin instead of using my mobile to call her i used my home telephone as no one was home.
so about 3 days later the house phone starts ringing at 0410 am and as the phone extension is in my mothers room she answered it and then shouts it was for me managed to get rid of call and then send quick text explaining mummy was listening and it was 410 am and i would call later, took me about 5 hours for the penny to drop that when i called her my house number had came up on her samsung phone and she had noted it down for future use.

Perhaps it's because they are so used to seeing you still partying at 3:30 in the morning, and assume you do the same when back home in USA?

Well if they have to phone you 0330 your time, they have to interupt their business (sleeping, partying or entertaining BF) at 0330 am their time. So for them it is better the other way around.

happens with anyone
One year I was working in Orlando on my birthday. At 5 am my dad calls congratulating me waking me up.
He says I figure I better wait a bit since you might wanna sleep in late on your birthday.
**** men, it's 5 am here (and then to think the bastard lived in Miami himself for a few years)

Yeah, right!!! If you happen to be on the East Coast or near it. If you are on the west coast, then it is 15 hours, which can be very confusing, even I get confused. I would usually find myself talking to myself, going, "Ok, if it noon here, then that means it is midnight in New York. So if it is midnight in New York, then, let me see....., um-m-m, that makes it 9:00 PM in California!"
And it took me a long time to figure out that method. On my 2nd and 3rd tour, I would just never set my watch to LOS time, but keep it on PST, so that I wouldn't be calling people in the US in the middle of the night!!!

Rolex GMTII (or explorer but I prefer the GMTII) is really good for heavy travellers..
Alternatively any watch with a rotating bezel can have the bezel rotated to give you a second time zone control.. Using the GMTII (it has a 4th 24 hour hand) you can actually have 3 timezones by using both the second hand and offset bezel strategies..
Thai copies of the GMTII rarely hvae a true independant 4th hand so always test that if picking one up..

Guys its not just time zones, very few thai girls have any concept of whats going on outside Thailand, almost as bad as the states 55555555555
When I was back in Scotland with the wife she just kept her watch on thai time and insisted when asking or telling the time in Thai time zone

Lot cheaper for visitors is having their watch on Thai time and mobile on hometime. Works fine for me.
