Blast rocks London's financial district
18:55 AEST Thu Jul 7 2005
AAP
AP - An explosion on a subway line in London's financial district has injured several people, British Transport Police say.
Metronet, a company which maintains the subway infrastructure, said the explosion was caused by a power surge.
London Underground reported a second incident at another subway station in northwest London, but gave no details immediately.
London Ambulance Service said several vehicles had been dispatched to the area near Liverpool Street station.
"We believe there was some sort of explosion. There are some walking wounded at Aldgate," said a spokesman for City of London police, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"We are not sure of the scale of the incident. Reports are still coming in."
Several Tube stations were closed following the incident, including the busy King's Cross station in north London.

Al Quieda
This is a direct copy of the madrid train bombings in Spain.
It has also been timed to coincide with the G8 summit in Scotland, when the anti-terrroist police and an additional 10,000 police offices have been drafted in from England to protect the world leaders in Scotland.
Sad but just shows that no where in the world is safe and you can't stop going about your normal routine (which includes travelling to Phuket). If you do then the terrorists have won. That's what 'terrorism' means- we have to keep fighting it.

LOOKS LIKE THE BASTARDS ARE AT IT AGAIN DREW MAY BE RIGHT
POLICE have confirmed at least three explosions on buses in central London, and several blasts have also rocked the London Underground during morning peak-hour.
Scotland Yard today said it had reports of blasts at six central London locations on buses and underground trains, bringing chaos to the city.
There are reports of explosions in Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate, Scotland Yard said.
London's entire underground railway network was shut down and dozens of people were reported injured amid reports of derailments and tunnels filled with choking smoke.
The chaos came a day after the British capital was chosen to host the 2012 Olympics.
Police evacuated several mainline railway and underground stations after a blast near Liverpool Street Station, which serves London's financial district, and a separate incident in the west of the capital.
"We believe there was some sort of explosion. There are some walking wounded at Aldgate," a police spokesman said, referring to an underground station near Liverpool Street.
A spokesman for London underground said a second 'incident' had taken place at Edgware Road station in west London.

Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene to deal with the confusion.
British Transport Police said the first incident was reported at 8.49am on the Metropolitan Line between Liverpool Street and Aldgate, and was thought to have been caused by a collision between two trains, a power cut or a power cable exploding.
But the national grid has told Sky News they could find no incident which would have lead to the blasts and witnesses said there may have been an explosive device.
Australian traveller "Steve", who was on the Aldgate tube, told Sky News there was a big hole in the carriage where the explosion occurred.
"There was so much stuff, people were choking," he said.
"We couldn't get out so we had to walk through the carriages.
"On the tracks you could see bodies and just the train hanging everywhere," he said.
Another witness on a bus said she was thrown to the ground by a blast.
"I saw the bus and it's ripped out its back, and I can't think it was anything (other than an explosion)", she told

Only half an hour ago they were still talking about a blown generator.. Total horseh1t as theres 6 stations and multiple busses.. Eyewitness totally different from the dumb 'cover story' that BBC world were trolling out..

This sounds very bad. They'll soon be taking a body count!
If this had happened a day ago, the Olympics would have gone to Paris.
Maybe now they'll have a proper crackdown and quit playing games with these people!! They ought to do something! Too much worry about political correctness IMHO!
I hope that no one that we know was there, or had friends and relatives riding the transit at that time and place.

These fcuking muslim terrorists have it way too easy. Immigration laws MUST be tightened to keep these fcukers out. They come to western countries to take advantage of our free societies and then try to destroy it. Do you see Chriatians going around to muslim Capital cities killing innocent people. Quite frankly there should be a halt to allowing muslims coming into countries until they have a very very thorough security check. Not trying to be overtly prejudiced but SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE
Its getting beyond a joke

Sorry to say that Ritchie, but yes we have done all that and are still doing it too!
Sometimes a more subtile way, sometimes a bloody one, like in the crusades time...

er... what world are you living in... Have you heard about this country in the middle east.. Iraq I think its called ??? Or the recent 'accidental airstrike' on innocents in Afganistan ???
Read anything about the last century of jewish support to the tune of billions by western countries post WWII... At the direct detriment to the Arab (muslim) neighbouring countries still occupied thans to US paid for tanks, helicopters, guns and misslies ???
I make no apologies for the w@nkers that commited todays atrocity but some people seem to have no idea of what is happening in the world or why !!!

eerr um we're taking about terrorist groups attacking societies that have not directly gone about attacking other religions or their way of life and that makes it right to commit attrocities and kill innocent people and bomb them in say Madrid, Bali, New York????
No one is debating what happened in Iraq was right or justified but a line must be drawn somewhere

Well the unfortunate perception of many muslim are that they are being actrively targetted by the west financially and by 'culture creep' which erodes thier moral identity.. This is something they wish to fight and when you dont have the money or army to back you up the only way to fight is in ways like this.. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter...
If true free and fair one man one vote elections were held within Iraq the facts stand that the majority of the population would vote in a hard line muslim fundamentalist government controlled by the senior mullas and hard line religious nuts... The US will not allow that.. So essentially there is a US puppet government installed in a country with no true basis or right all done under the guise of democracy.. How many people died today in London and how many died in Iraq.. My TV is full of London, not heard todays Iraqi count..
Did you hear about Sundays botched US airstrike killing at least 17 civilians in Afganistan ??? Not a headline item on Faux news is it ?? So its barely newsworthy that a high firepower government can murder 17 people (civilians not insurgents) via an airstrike and the world doesnt even blink..
Dont let me sound like I am apologising for the actions today.. But I think most people have so little understanding of the world as filtered through western media that knee jerk (send em home) comments are just plain dumb..

Yes essentially we have attacked thier way of life.. we have done so financially and actually for 1000's of years via church and state.. We have done so especially for the last 60 or so years directly funding thier enimies.. We have done so in a way to erode thier religion and way of life..
Now whether 'ther' way of life is better or worse or not these are still realities and facts..
