tragedy cont..
as i told you, my gf from pattaya and graham's niece were hit by a drunk driver and horribly, g's niece was killed.
i got a call yesterday from gail at 530pm, us time. usually when i see her calling me at that time, i figure she is coming back drunk from going out. i didnt call back until 1am,us time. a girl answeres, who wasnt gail. she tells me that gail got inot a bad accident. now this girl speaks english fairly well, but there is still lost translation. she tells me about gail being in an accident, and then i believed that she said gail was dead. now i was on the phone with him, my whole body going numb. i heard her mention graham, and gail has been hanging out with graham and graham's family that was on holiday. so i call graham figuring that he can tell me how gail got killed. now mind you, at this point i dont even know about his niece. so then graham tells me his niece got killed and gail was fine. shes real banged up, but she will be fine. i just feel so bad for graham.
you have to realize the emotions i went through last night. for a good 1 1/2 hrs, i thought gail was dead, then i find out she isnt, but graham's poor niece is. i am totally frazzled.
see, now i was wondering if i should write this post but then i realized that you guys are really the only ones that would truly understand. i dont know if you know my story, but ive been involved with 2 girls for a decent amount of time. and although i am not in love with them, i care for them dearly. now thinking that one might be dead, and the fact that she was in phuket doing me a favor, taking care of my dog, i really didnt know how to react. i really felt guilty. i am just so realived that she is ok. thanks for listening to my rant

I met Alexandra when i was at Love bar recently. A nice pretty girl full of life and who drank every round I bought for the bar. I hope that Graham is alright and my condolences to him and his brother.

OK I am just through the door.. Been with Gee and John and what remains of Johns family since the am..
Got a SMS from Gee last night at about 3:30 asking for the embassy numbers with the chilling message that Alexandria wad dead.. I didnt get it until AM today but immediatly went and pitched in as any of us would.. Today has been a non stop madhouse of Police, municipality, hospitals, paperwork, undertakers, embassy, air ticketing people, consul, etc etc etc.. Gee is hanging in there but now after 36 hours without sleep plus the stress and the grief its a rough grim ride..
I just put him and John and the boys into my usual taxi to the airport.. Gee will stay another couple of days and Gee and I will make sure Alexandria gets back probably Fri late or Sat morn.. John and boys are now flying out 1:30 BKK.. Thai air bastards wouldnt even let them change tickets without insisting on their petty 100 GBP move the ticket costs which lowered them immesely in my opinion (especially as one of the 4 tickets will never be used !!)...
The situation that happened was a Thai rider smashed into Gail and Alex at about 2 am.. He had 263 level of blood alcohol (40 is UK limit 50 for Thailand IIRC) so was 5 - 7 times the legal limits.. Gail was 0 and 100% sober.. Gail has been superficially hurt (scrapes and the like) but seems to me like a case of fairly severe shock.. At the same time theres behind the scenes bullshit with the police..
I will eave it to Gee if he wishes to make public some of the problems as I guess this is his family business.. Graham has been an absolute star to his nephews and John was incredible.. The amount of bullshit he had to go through in such a time of trauma was rediculous I was just happy that me and Gee could do all the legwork and fax / phonbe / chase crap while he took care of his boys..
Grim grim day..

It is always shocking to me as a Farang, how matter of fact the thais are about death.
Sorry G and his family had to go through all this on top of losing a loved one. Again my condolences.

Unfortunately I know all to well about such matters, I know there is nothing that can be said to make matters better, to loose a young life any time is the worse kind of lost to have..imho.
It does however make me think of my own actions at times.
To G ...peace be with you and your family.
To Paul...Don't spend time blaming yourself and remeber that bad things happen to good people...Hang in there.

my girl is fine, just real banged up and i think really screwed up about the events. unfortunatly, she had a motorbike accident a few years ago that killed her papa, so it might be bringing up some bad memories.

Of course, all my deepest sympathies go to G and his family in this time of sorrow.
Paul, I think it is great that you are ready to go to Gail's side immediately. It is fortunate for her that she survived. But to be involved in a accident where a young girl dies is really an extremely traumatic experience for anyone. So much worse if this sort of thing happened before with her father. She is an incredibly strong person, and a surivior in more ways than one. But nobody, however strong they are can not be affected deeply by this sort of senseless tragedy striking their lives. You can just imagine the fun of two girls out on the town on a typical LOS night. To have it suddenly turn into violence, death, and injury is shocking beyond what even the strongest person could well endure. Hopefully, it will not take too long for her to recover from the physcial injuries, if they are not too bad. But it will take longer to recover pyschologically. I am glad for her that you are able to help her out. Please give her my regards when you see her.
