Full Moon Party - UK Sky Travel Extra Tonight
Just to let anyone interested know, it was on last night and looks like its being repeated tonight at midnight...Sky Travel Extra.
Follows 4 backpackers on the way to a Full Moon Party...2 women go off to the Burmese border first and have a look round. Another backpacker who seems totally stoned 90% of the time eating a load of magic mushroom omelletes and smoking spliff after spliff at the party. And some philosophy graduate who is on a mission to "Experience all that life has to offer"...he hits Koh Sumi first and does a one nighter with his first ever ladyboy! Before hitting the party and getting completely off his tits on everything going.
Program is on for an hour....not quite TAT approved due to its content heh.
Also, another program on tonight, again a older repeat..but incase anyone hasnt seen it......
Tourist Police
10:00pm - 10:30pm
Sky Travel
Documentary series about law enforcers who have to deal with troublesome holidaymakers. This edition from Thailand features a man sentenced to jail for not paying a fine from his overdue visa, a businessman just released from prison on drugs charges who wants police protection, claiming he was framed, and a couple who have had their cash stolen from a hotel safety-deposit box.
Both programs not exactly showing Thailand at its best!

I assume these are on the "Freeview" Ski Travel channel.
The programmes are repeated every month or so... but are definately worth watching (at least) once.

All they seemed to do was magic mushrooms constantly and look for pills. I thought the Thai's were really really strict on drugs? Whats the drug scene like in Patong?

Aye, i can imagine it being less hot on a smaller island. I'm not as into the drug scene as i used to but to me there is nothing nicer than smoking a fatty boombatty and drinking a beer. I think if drugs are found by my companions i may partake. My two friends on Samui ATM are smashed on shrooms every other day as they lead me to believe. They had better sober up by August though or i'ma gonna have to slap them both.
Bloody students lol!

There are thousands of people and most of them are just drunk and having a great time. So did i and i could see some people that where more then drunk but it didn't bother me at all. I loved it and i am definatly going again next time if i am around during Full Moon. These programs probably just look at the parties from one point of view.
But as ButterflyBlond already said , up to you.

I saw the programme and would rather stick pins under my nails than go there and mix with those people.
Of course they are all being very individual and independent. Except they all crowd together on the Khao San Road in BKK and then all go together to Koh Pangan to be even more individual and independent. And they probably think they are "doing Asia".

cool, there will be another documentary on a farang wasting away in jail in Thailand due to the repressive Thai police. We look forward to see you starring in the documentary.
If only the US was stricter with their drug enforcement laws. I bet if the punishment was death for dealers there would not be a crack dealer on every corner and a crack house on every block in the big cities here in the US.
Abstain for a few weeks, it might save you a lot of grief.
I think they are also planning on cracking down a little more at these full moon parties and I think there was a thread on that.

I didnt see the programme but I have been to Samui and Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, And I had a fu*king brilliant time and would recommend it to anyone, And before anyone asks, The anwser is no.....
I didnt take any sort of illegal drugs while I was there, And I was not the only one, There were many other people there who didnt take drugs and just got locked and had a good time.
Then there were the others (Possible the majority) that were off there faces on Magic Mushrooms, E, Coke and Blow but they didnt bother me one bit, And I had a ball regardless, You make your own fun guys.
Just because you see one programme about it, You cant really make a judgement on a place until you have actually been there yourself's and experienced it, Again I would recommend it

It wasn't the drug taking that put me off: what disturbed me were the pictures of the trashed beach the next morning... one day there was a georgous beach with perfect white sand, the next day a rubbish tip.
In England, we do agree with people coming into our neighborhood, having a full-blown rave all night long, and leaving the area trashed. If we travel half way around the world, does this behavour become more acceptable?

Very, very true - I firmly believe that TV programs do distort the true in order to get/keep an audience. Can someone who has been there confirm/correct some perceptions the program gave, please?
(1) How many of these "ravers" helped clean up the beach the next day (or the day after the next day, depending on how big their hangovers were ).
(2) Are the ravers charged an "admission fee" where the money went to the (beach owners, or the local town council) paid for the use of the beach?
(3) Were the people selling the drugs Thai's or "Westerners"?
Thanks

1) No, And you would want to be off your head if you think this should be the case, You know people have Parades, Concerts, Sporting Events etc..etc.. All over the world, Do you expect all these people to clean up after themselves on there way home, Fat chance. Isnt that what civil servents are paid for????
2) No, But they make an awful lot of money from the sale of drink/food/Cds/T-shirts etc..etc...
3) Its mostly thai's but you will find a couple of westerners who sell them also.

Wow you must have noticed somthing in the text i did not. Maybe you should share your EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE of the Thai drug laws seeing as you obviously know so much more than anyone else?
And btw that bug up your a$$ is starting to smell as bad as it's owner, perhaps you should consider removing it?
So have you ever done drugs of any kind in Thailand? Cus if you havn't done it already, maybe you should do it today?! And enlighten us with a report ?
I would expect someone with "If I havn't done it already, then i'm gunna do it today." as their sig. to have a better attitude than you.

Each to their own if people use drugs, but dont expect me to feel sorry for you if you get cought.... Espessially if you do it in LOS.
Those guys here that "glorify" smoking, and have smartassed remarks, i hope you know what you are doing. Wouldnt recommend you to buy/smoke in LOS if you dont have the right connections. Could be a very scary (and deserved) experience...
But i think my comment here will be unnoticed. You guys probably know better then the seasoned guys here....

I totally agree its a shame the beach gets full with rubbisch and bottles and stuff. But the bar owners are the one that make sure everything gets cleaned up the next day because they are the ones throwing the party and the ones that bennefit financially from it. And look at it this way , if there where no parties there there was no income for the people living there.
And for the people judging Khaosan Road (Barfly, i sense some frustration). Its so easy to generalise. And if you don't understand something it doesn't mean its bad. I personally love Khaosan Road.

Seasoned in what exactly? No offence like but all that most of you guys are seasoned in is ***** mongering and biatching. Some body makes a post telling people to do what they want, after all it is their life to lead, and up pops a post trying to shame them for their beliefs and opinions.
The majority here are nice guys who i could sit and have a drink and a laff with but my god there are some big-headed, jaded, dirty old men here..... you know who you are.
