piped music,in soi eric
the thing i found most off-putting ,(apart from a bloody tsunami)whilst in having a drink, and trying to chill out at the mai tai bar in soi eric ,is the so called "music"
it was pumped out via loud-speakers to the whole soi,,
from a solitary "d-j"---it was terrible--someone shoot the "d-y"

Can agree there... But i prefer the same music from all bars, then the totally earblowing experiences you get from the other sois...

Amen brother, the DJs may play music not to your taste but it is a massive improvement on the old 'one bar one sound system' setup.

Never really notice the music, this could be because I am concentrating hard considering my next connect 4 move, chatting enthusiastically to my audience of non english speaking bg's or could just be cos I'm wasted, probably the latter.

Hi Dodger,
maybe the 2 empty beer bottles, one against each ear while your chin is on the bar, act as good insulators from the music. Or maybe the BG's hand on the front of your pants has you distracted.

Compared to all other Soi's in Patong and Pattaya for that matter, Soi Eric has always played a better choice and range of music than just head pumping techno all the time (and other types that may cause you a headache)
Also has always had a far more sensible volume than any other soi & you could actually hold a conversation with the person next to you.
Can Nicke enlighten me ? Has the volume level been increased ?

Same here BB, Didnt notice anything wrong with the music or the volume when I was there in april, As you said the volume is a lot lower than most other soi's and you can hold a conversation with the person beside you, No problem, Sorry Andy.

As customers can we request the music they play, maybe even provide them with some cds
I would ask for Pink Floyd early on, then liven it up with Led Zeppelin, have a fun section with Staus Quo and end the evening with some love songs by either Shirley Bassey or the Carpenters. Beatles could be used intermittently throughout the evening.
Mmmmmmmmmmm - any jobs going as DJ's?

Status Quo?????
Can agree on the others, but Status makes me puke...
Why not start with Journey, a little Rush, continue with Queensr˙che, over to Ozzy and Judas Priest. After a while Velvet Revolver, Metallica. And to end the night with Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, System of a Dawn, Mötley Crüe
and Meshuggah....
THAT is what i call a good night..
P.S. Shagrath may have some norwegian death metal to put in also...

Of all the soi`s I think that Soi Erik volume isn`t bad at all !! And the DJ seems to have gotten his stuff together as well....on my march-may trip he didn`t even play Patongs National anthem " One Love ".

Baggy trousers .... short hair style .....
Hey you, don't watch that McHammer and Vanilla Ice crap. Watch this! This is the heavy, heavy monster sound. The nuttiest sound around. So if you've come in off the street. And you're beginning to feel the heat. Well listen buster. You better start to move your feet. To the rockinest, rock-steady beat Of Madness
One step beyond!

Actually funny that you should mention Madness!
While visiting my parents last month, I saw madness playing. The site of the concert was in the middle of the forest!
It was like i was welcome to the house of fun, now that id come of age....... etc etc.
Gig was good, even if the flys were annoying!

 I'll second that!
I have had the pleasure to listen to both Immortal and Satyricon in Patong bars. It was they who asked me to bring the cd's...
Have to say Turbonegro, We and Motorpsycho were generally better reccived though.

Tarzan,
They may not be considered hard rock today but believe me, in my day they were.
And if that's not showing my age, I don't know what is.
As for some of the other groups the younger BMs. mention. Iv'e never heard of them. Probarbly a load of shit anyway.
Vanilla??? I thought that was an ice cream
