Music stopped at Soi Eric 02:00 tonight and people told me Bangkok police was here, so I suppose everywhere closed 02 tonight. When I walked to my motorbike throught Soi Crocodile it was closed there too, about 2:30.

I hope things back to normal when they leave.

i went over to tai pan for a minute and was walking back to love bar at about 150am. they were all lined up outside pizza company, getting ready to pounce. bastards!can not stomach them

Theres more to this than meets the eye..

Kathu Policeman was shot by a BKK police officer (I think thats the way round it is).. He will pull through but took one in the gut.. BKK police are flexing muscles..

From what I understood last night it went like this..

Policeman was riding with arrestee on the back handcuffed.. One bullet over his shoulder and shot the arrestee in the neck (killing him) one in the gut of the copper..

Now how much was whisky talk and how much was real is hard to know.. But the cops (local) that were there were angry as hell and there was talk of reprisals etc.. Seems odd to have a pillion who was arrested but TiT..

So BKK police throwing some weight about last night..

Excuse my ignorance LIL.....but who has jurisdiction in Patong ?......why would Bkk be down there ?

Police get moved about to 'reduce corruption' what that really means is new police arrive and make a clampdown until places cough uip and the deals get renegotiated continually..

There are always power struggles between powers that be.. local police.. imported police etc.. Eg while Pian was thrown out of office for corruption the then mayor could do nothing or get nothing done because the senior police were still aligned with Pian.. Low and behold one term later hes voted back in..

There appears to be a BKK / Kathu power struggle (Kathu having revenues from Patong hold more sway than say 'Talang' etc) and friction.. Taking it to taking pot shots at each other in the street seems to be stepping it up a bit !!!!

I am not sure how it works but I think it is a kind of controlling system and to avoid correuption, so once in a while police from other areas visit areas that normally dont belongs to them. E.g. Phuket Town or BKK police come to Patong.

Also police men can be transferred to other areas, this is especially true for higher ranking officers or promoted officers.

A new boss took over at Kathu on the 1st, and he is a hard line. Has instructed his troops it is 2am for all premises in Patong. So there goes what ever little recovery that was happening.

Also you hear about the shooting ?? Perhaps it was a few whisky sodas but the guys I saw last night were not happy !!!

Too bad, I liked the old one as he always was "nightlife friendly".

But phuket governor declared before the closing time should be 03:00 am for entertainment zones in Patong? I dont know if it was a wish or fact.

My maid just turned up.. The guy shot on the back of the police bike last night is my maintanence guy !! Complete madness.. In the last 3 weeks its a whirlwind of death around me.. steer clear guys !!!!

Now who is going to change my pool bulbs !!!

This is getting a war-zone. A bit more news like that in foreign media and Phuket will stay empty!

Jezus, I neer had anyone killed around me, ever in my life! If you have to be in Phuket to witness that!

Now lets see if media do as much coverage when a policeman commits murder as when a farang does ??

I don't know if i am really understanding this. But a policeman from bkk shot at some guy who was at the back of a motor cycle of a policeman from phuket. The guy on the back died and the policeman in front just got shot ?

Why would a policeman from bkk start shooting at another policeman ?? Sorry but i find this rather shocking and just wanna try to understand it.

Well, killings and violence is a problem in every country I guess, I read about such things in Swedish newspapers too.

But the story LIL talk about sounds very strange.

Yes one policeman shot at another poiliceman who was on a bike carrying a person on the back (my maintenance guy apparently)..

The first bullet went over the local policemans shoulder missing his head but catching the pillion (so I was told) in the throat killing him.. Next shot hit the policemen in the gut and he went down off the bike and returned fire (unsucessfully)..

The initial policeman has turned himself in.. Was drunk was his excuse.. Motive (excpet rivalry) unknown..

This is part of the frictions between Kathu (local) and the new BKK imports.. The boys I had some drinks with last night seemed very pissed about it.. There was some talk about revenge etc but I think (lets hope) thats a combo of drink, being used to power, face, etc..

Also remember my Thai is crap so I was doing a loit of nodding and smiling and getting this translated and them dropping back to bits of English for me.. The bulk of the conversation was outside my understanding so I may be wrong on some facts..

Its kind of annoying that an item like this barely makes news while an item like Debs and Paul is splashed over all the Thai press and lots of international media..

Damm its a madhouse. When even police start shooting eachother in some kind of a gang war whats next. Cops starting to ask protection money from bar owners .... ? Hope this will stay with this one incident and the guy gets his punishment from the law.

Gazette usually dont report everything, but Thai press, like Thai Rath has lot of stories every day about things like this from around Thailand. (And they often get the facts wrong or spice the story with their own theories)

But as for international press, they just report things happens to their citizens or maybe other westerners.

Dont know.. I dont even know if it happened in Patong itself...

Somehow I get the idea (memory) that it may have been heading into or at Phuket town but this was a 'after midnight' bar conversation.. Dont know if I just have that idea from nowhere or if it was said directly or hinted ?? Late night bar talk in Thai..

He explained that Sgt Panya, 34, went to Anajak Isan after finishing work in order to visit the owner. He was not in uniform nor was he carrying a firearm.

Soon afterwards, Manot, also out of uniform, entered w ith Seksit. Col Sien said witnesses said both appeared to be drunk when they sat down.

Soon after, Manot called for a bill although he had not ordered anything, Col Sien said. At the same time, Seksit slumped to the floor. As a waitress tried to help him back into his seat, he touched her breast. She immediately reported this to the restaurant owner.

Sgt Panya heard the waitress’s account and aproached the two men. Manot demanded to know who he was, so Panya produced his police ID card.

Abruptly, Manot pulled out a 9mm pistol and Seksit pulled Sgt Panya’s arms behind his back. The pair then frogmarched the sergeant outside.

There, Manot – bizarrely – held his gun beneath Seksit’s chin and fired, killing him instantly. He then turned his gun on Sgt Panya, shooting him once through the right side of his body and once in the throat.

Manot s urrendered this morning and was charged with murder and attempted murder. Col Sien said that the narcotics cop neither admitted nor denied the charges, saying only that he would have his say in court.

The investigation continues.

Seems the motorbike story is completely false... Only part about that that was correct was one in the throat and one in the gut..

Have to say this is really confusing.. Its like he is helped by his buddy to march the other cop outside then shots his buddy first ?!?!? I am guessing Seksit is the name of my maintenance guy..
