Visa questions...
Hi guys,
OK, call this optimistic thinking but I am not going to be in Thailand until 8th of September. But during that stay if I fnd a GF (I have a few contacts) and at a later date I want to wing her over here (USA) for a vacation, wouldn't the 30-day reciprocal visa fall into place?
I keep reading about how hard it is to get a visa for them unless they are a fiancee. I don't want to have to make too many promises.
What's the real scoop here?
Thanks in advance.
Dave

ha ha ha... reciprical 30 days for Thais.. No mate sorry..
Fortress America is apparently one of the toughest in the world (if not the toughest).. I hear tourist visa's are nigh on impossible and the K1 fiance visa is about the only likely route.. Lots of paper work and its a one shot deal.. 1 K1 is all as its to get married (once)..
Check on Thaivisa.com.. Europe is pretty trivial in my experience and UK a little harder but not too bad (some paperwork.. Often an interview but say the right things and they allow it)..

Yes, tourist visa is real tuff. beneficiary has to provide substantial proof of intent to return. i.e. Ownership of property or home, employment letter, bank account, deposits, family ties etc, even then no guarantee. K1 is no picnic either. Recommend Visajourney.com for wealth of more info. And formums. I am currently in the process of a k1 visa.

Bill really had some big beer goggles on.

I went the K-1 route as well. I wanted to do the tourist visa with my gf, but its just impossible given her situation.
There is a stack of papers to deal with for this, and getting all of her biographic information correct has also been a chore. It'll all be worth it in the end I'm sure.

Thanks guys,
Sheeit, now I need to go slash my wrists and turn in my ticket. No 30 day Visa, no Santa.
Hell a K1, I haven't even met her yet, marriage does seem a touch impetuous at this point. LOL
Oh well, I guess it's the bar-scene for me after all as I just realized my ticket is non-refundable. I'll just have to make do the best I can. Can we all say "butterfly?"
"getting all of her biographic information correct has also been a chore"
Ahhh, all my Tax dollars at work. <sigh> Bureaucrats, doncha lovem?
