Air Quality in Southern Districts

An article in today's Bangkok Post said that the same Indonesian forest burning blamed for the haze in KL recently is affecting air quality in S. Thailand including mention of Phuket. Although special precautions are not recommended in Phuket, people in regions closest to Indonesia/Malaysia are being advised to stay indoors and, if they must go out, to wear dampened face masks.

Anything noticable in Patong?

Was noticable this morning, but when we left home to come into Patong this evening was even worse. No problems, just another thing thrown at us, to keep the tourist numbers down.

I read that there was absolutely not danger for health caused by the smoke, and everything would be back to normal with the next rain.

I have lived through this shit in KL before, and it is a danger to your health. Maybe not so much here in Phuket, but if I was a tourist arriving here at the moment and saw all this shit hanging around, I would probably seriously consider moving onto somewhere else where the sky is still blue.

Skies were crystal clear on the flight in and no sign of haze Wednesday/Thursday despite there having been no rain. The only difficulty breathing that I've had so far is from that bloody grill on the corner of Soi C&N.

Thumbs up haze gone now

Tuesday was shocking, you could only just make out the hills it was so bad. From the lookout just south of Kata you could just make out Kata beach but could not see Karon. Much better as of Wednesday morning, it has totally disappeared now.
