1) Thai government dont want tax from my salary
2) Women a lot nicer than UK and more readily available
3) No family arguments, just send me the outcome and dont involve me
4) Doing what i want, when i want to do it and nobody can say anything about it.
5) Weather, although i hardly ever see the beach to make much use of it.
6) People, including the expats, everyone is there to have fun and it is very easy to meet people.
thats all i can think of right now, 9 days and counting

I'm a Sydney Aussie living in Tokyo. I enjoy living here but the thing I miss the most is beaches, pools and open air living (bars etc). I could probably find the same things elsewhere but Phuket is easy to get to from both Australian and Japan and Thailand makes tourists very welcome. I like Patong because it's got a great beach but plenty else to do, reasonable prices for nice hotels, it's not sleazy and disgusting like the red light zones of big cities (esp Bangkok) but still plenty of action. I don't find Thai women particularly attractive, heresy I know, but Thais are delightful people; a welcome change from the inscrutable Japanese. Finally I love Thai food, I but I can get good Thai food here, when in Patong I eat pizza, English breakfast, roast lamb/beef, etc, all the stuff that's hard to get in Tokyo.

Value for money:
Hotels, food, "entertainment"........go anywhere else you are always watching your $$$$....in LOS you don't have to be so prudent in that area.
I also enjoy meeting people from different countries and talking about their day to day lives, and Patong is a great spot for this......last trip l made friends from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belguim, Ireland, Scotland, Greece, Malaysia, UK, USA & of course Thailand.

No none of those things attract me to Thailand. Firstly, for me, its the lack of stress, as soon as I walk into the arrivals hall at Don Muang Airport I feel all the stress leave me, I forget all my worries and problems, and am able to relax. After that its the combination of fun, funky food, fine friends combined with great weather, beaches, and value for money.

The reason I go is probably similar to Drews: 'The strange nightime antics!"

I got blown away by the country and the way people are living there lives in Thailand. Then there is also the mix of travelers and locals who all just wanna party and have a nice time. I love ofcourse the nature, beaches and underwater world. But you have that i more places around the world. Its the mix of it with the people that makes it so great.
