British Airways 45 minutes
Thai Air no latest time stated only 2 hours for economy, 1 1/2 for royal
Eva "At a minimum, we recommend that you check in one hour before the scheduled departure time for international flights, but you may need two hours in large, busy airports with strict procedures such as those in the U.S."

Definately a clear cut 2 hours prior for International departures. Everyone on any flight goes through the same security into the departure area and the queues recently have been bloody horrendous. Some check-in desks open 4-5 hours before.
Don't forget access to the airport and parking and drop-off are always busy. Personally, I like to get into the departure lounge in good time and have the first beer of my holiday while watching the people running for gates that are just about to close.

I get my tickets via Opodo, their recommendation is 2 hours. At Heathrow, the check-in desks for Thai can be quite busy and then even longer lines at Security. At peak times even 2 hours can be tight,I usually go about 2 and a half hours before, then if I get through quicker ,I can relax and have a beer or two.

I use Opodo as well and have my tickets here with me now (Have just stroked them and given them a little kiss mmmmmmmm nice tickets!) Good service IMHO, anyway, definately get to Heathrow in good time, all the above advice is good advice and you never know! They may go on strike again! I know a really good corner in departures you can spend 72 hours in without being kicked and prodded by the airport staff.

What day is the flight? If it's Monday - Friday it could be dodgy as you will hit the M25 during rush hour. Saturday/Sunday should be ok. Where will you park the car or are you being dropped off? Absolute latest to get to checkin desk (say 7:30?), that should be sufficient, but many things can hold you up along the way from your workplace to the checkin desk. Looks a bit of gamble to me. Good luck if you go for it.

Your mate could drop you outside of the terminal building, so that saves time parking etc. I guess a good run from Brum to Heathrow is 2 hours, so it is doable. Maybe do some homework on alternative routes around the M40/M25 interchange area. Perhaps some BMs living in the Heathrow area could give expert advice regarding traffic at that time of the day and alternative routes.

Think that's cutting it too fine - getting into Heathrow can take an hour or more , from M40(depending on traffic), security can now take quite a while so while most of the time it would be fine it wouldn't take much for you to miss you flight.

ETV just pull a sicky or just tell them your leaving early, stop being a big woos, going to LOS is far more important than your job 55555555
Always try to check in 2-3 hours before departure. It can take alot of time to clear security, especially at terminal 3 & remember it a good 20 min walk to the departure gate for thai air, usually gate 30 something
