Continued developments in Patong / Phuket
Read some interesting things in todays issue of Phuket Gazette...
We have a new fresh food market, Banzaan in Patong which officially open on Nov 1. It will be very high standard and hygienic aswell as some other shops there.
The road with all these small karaoke bars with a dead end at Nanai/Karon intersection is planned to continue to Patong hospital. (Between Nanai and Rat-U-Thit). So lot of more space for future developments then.
Also there are talks about a new road from Chalong directly to Patong, a shortcut instead of existing roads which may suit residents in Chalong and dive companies well.
And I hope the ongoing widening of main roads throughout Phuket will finish soon, it is a great improvement but it is taking so long time and causing mess. But once finished, it is a big improvement for us living here.

mmmmmmmmmmm yes please in lots of garlic butter!!
Nicke, with all this road widening going on (which can only be for the good and probably safer!) do the Thais have these red and white cones like the UK? I can be out of the UK for up to 6 months at a time and when I go back they are usually still there stuck in the same place! Perhaps a LOS Cone hotline is needed?

fresh food market
it is located behind the new jungceylon complex and accessible off the nanai rd until they finish the jungceylon.
this new western style market replaced the old thai style market which was very close to it.
the produce seems of high quality, vegetables, fruit and fish.
ask in thai and the vendors seem quite happy to cut a piece of fruit to let you try it.
so if your a resident, or on tour and like to rent an apartment and get your bg to cook for you its a good place to buy your fresh food.

BTW, do you know there is an existing road from Patong to Wat Chalong?
The road is in very bad condition and steep up and downs and during rainy season I am not sure it is useable at all sometimes.

The old mountain Rd..
I did it on a scooter once (not reccomended even for the brave).. I hear that the road project is doomed as much of the land is owned by important people who are insisting on mega money to purchase the access right / land use.. Considering its well over the 80m build hight restriction the land should be dirt cheap.. of course if it was anyone else it would be compulsory purchased but...
