I'm planning a trip to Thailand in mid October or so for two weeks and hope someone can give me some advice. It will be my second trip, my first one being in about 1997, to Samui, Ko Tao, and a few other islands.

I have two weeks for this trip, and I am planning on spending them in Phuket. I'm basically looking for a nice relaxing experience, some time on the beach, some sightseeing, and some girls.

What I need some advice on is where would be a good place to stay during my time in Phuket. I have read a ton of the postings on here and other sites and have a general feeling of prices, location, etc but was hoping someone might have some advice for me.

Basically, I plan on spending about 2 weeks in Thailand. Ideally, I would like to meet a nice bar girl that I could spend most of my time there with, hopefully who can speak a fair amount of english, at least enough to spend that amount of time with. Hopefully I can find the girl on my own (although any particular advice would be appreciated, where to go, what to watch out for, etc), but I'm a bit unsure about a hotel for my stay. Is it possible to find a place that is friendly to companions, ie: they will be treated like any other guest, and don't have to avoid the pool, restaurant, etc? As well, when we are around the hotel, even if it is cool with the hotel, are there some hotels that are better than others in terms of the general types of guests that stay there? ie: I'd rather not have people looking down their nose at me while I'm trying to enjoy my vacation with one of the local girls. Also, it would be nice to have a place where the girl could bring a friend to hang out for the day (extra charge is fine) on the beach while I buy them drinks, massages, etc.

I don't have a terribly limited budget, I'm thinking around 2000 baht per night for the room, but would gladly pay more far a nicer room, as long as it is in the right environment....I'm thinking maybe I should look at getting a high end room in a place that has a broad range of rooms? I'm thinking if I got to a place thats too expensive, it might not be guest friendly?

Other things that I would like are, proximity to the beach, satellite tv, balcony off my room (with a view)!!??, room service!!, maybe a jacuzzi in the room, internet access.

By the way, I'm a 34 year old Canadian, pretty good looking, so I wouldn't think I'd be sticking out like a sore thumb too much if I had a gorgeous girl with me. Anyways, I know I've asked a ton of questions, but if anyone can shed any light on my situation at all, it would be very much appreciated!!

Oh ya, I almost forgot....what should I expect to pay these days for barfine + "tip" for a girl? ie: per night for one night vs per night if we spend a week together?

Other people here will give better advice regarding location and girls but if you want relaxing and quiet then Patong doesn't really fit that description, though a good place to go on your first night to get "the girl". Expect in the region of 1000 baht/day for a TG (though I could be corrected on that). My main advice would be that if you find a girl to spend a reasonably long time with then officially register her with the hotel as you would any wife/girlfriend. You will almost certainly be in a double room anyway.

Wherever you end up expect it to be a long way removed from Samui/ Ko Tao of 1997!

you will be able to find a nice room for less than 1000 baht as it is still low season for most hotels in October.

Look up guest friendly hotels in the forum and there are lots of resorts listed there. No problem to have a BG(bargirl) with you at any of those resorts and no joiner fee(you do not pay extra for having a guest). Stay in the Patong area as most of the men will have guests in that area.

The place you are looking for is Devana Resort and Spa. A room in spa wing with jacuzzi is 1900 baht on internet, but you shouild be able to drive that down. For that you get:-Satellite Television, Air Conditioning, 24h Room Service, Telephone, Mini Bar.

It has nice views of hills behind Patong. Its away from Bangla, but at the end of soi there is m/cycle taxi & tuk-tuk rank.

I stayed there in February; I booked a room for two people, when i checked in on my own, I said my friend was joining me later, put a made up name down (not Tata Young), and never had any problems. First night I took telak back security guard asked for her ID, and I went into my polite but firm "this lady is a registered guest, check with the registration", and nevcer had any problems

I checked out Devena (http://www.deevanapatong.com), thanks for the tip, it looks really nice....so, you don't think this would be too high end of a plce or anything? I wouldn't get the evil eye from other guests if I was with a bargirl if we were in the restaurant, pool area, etc?

Can anyone fill me in on how much one is going to typically pay for a bargirl these days?

If you want a place w/ jacuzzi in the room, then it is going to be upscale!!

For a BG, it depends on your approach. If you go to a Gogo bar, and pick out a real fox, you can expect to pay 2000. She may ask for more than that, but should be willing to settle for that, particulary since you are good-looking.

If you go to the beer bars, you should be able to get the same thing for 1000 per night. But some of the foxes there insist on 2000 also, escpecially if they think they can get it. Some don't care about looks, so much as money. But there are plenty of others who will discount for a good-looking young guy. Most girls will go for a 1000 with anybody, but they are not the top ten percent in looks, which is probably what you want. Still if you are a giood-looking 34 yr old, you should be able to get a top girl for a 1000(unless you are a jerk!

).

The other option which may be the best one for you, especially if you are concerned to get top girl for bottom dollar, is to go to the discos and pick up a FL. The top girls in the discos are generally(but not always) more focused on finding a guy they like and not as concerned with the money. See which ones are giving you the eye, then pick one out. Party hard, then take her home, but don't mention the money. If she likes you, then the going rate is "Up to You." You can slip her a 1000 each morning or give her nothing, and lay 10,000 Baht on her when you are leaving at the end of two weeks, or just buy her a gold chain for 10,000 Baht. Gold is pretty much the same as money there.
