Every time I go to Thailand I always hire motorbikes. Big ones. As Nicke has already mentioned, be VERY careful. Treat everybody as an idiot and ALWAYS expect the unexpected. I would advise anyone who has never rode a proper motorcycle to NOT hire a scooter.
If you do like bikes, then this one from Patong Big Bike on Rat-u-thit Road was excellent. Very fast and very comfortable, it is worth taking it off the island towards Phang-na Bay. Very good long straight roads and good visibilty. Watch for dogs!!!!

How much did you pay for rent that bike?

I rented a chopper during Phuket Bike Week and paid 600 baht/day. After these days my Honda Dream felt like a plastic toy.

Hi Nicke,

The Honda Blackbird was 1,000 baht per day and worth every baht.
Heading of the island on the road to Phang-na I had 170mph (270kmh) out of that machine. If you like speed and comfort with an easy to ride bike give it a try. I've hired all sorts of bikes when I go to Thailand because it gives me a chance to really see what each one is like as I am due to get another one in the UK.
Is it true you own the Mai Thai bar?
If i had known then I would have come to see you.
Do you know Tom, the Englishman, who owns the Swedish bar 'The Victoria' on the beach road. He speaks fluent Swedish and is a nice guy.
