No local workers as they will all be at the mosques, so time for a few cold ones on the terrace! We are having a al-Qaeda party in celebration of todays events....You have to come as your favourite Qaeda member!
Going working on my cozzie..........The time just flys here!...........Laters!

Hi D,
Hope things quiet down there now that Al Z is dead but who knows what religious fanatics will do. Have a nice time out on the terrace enjoying the evening tracer rounds show.
Stay safe and hope to see you in LOS next Songkran.

Damn Denver
You should have told me that earlier and I would have brought my favorite AQ member with me...
Met Osama himself(Or should I say herself?) in Love bar, had a couple of drinks with her and some more....
Nice chick, I made sure she had a "blast"
Pic1: Bartender posing as Osama.
Pic 2: Girl Osama, the nice one with who I had a "blast"....
Pic 3: Another girl posing as Osama. No clue who that is, but someone might know from the wrist tattoo.

Time for bed for me. Ramping up the security a little tomorrow should the backlash of todays (Yesterdays here!) news start to kick in.
One of the guards told me a joke tonight: في واحد معاه أرنب يبي يبيعه جاه واحد محشش وقال له بكم القرد ؟ رد عليه .. ياخي هذا أرنب مو قرد .. قال المحشش يابو الشباب أنا أسأل الأرنب ...............اسألتك.....55555 Well, it gave me a giggle!
Leave you with a few more pics of various parts of this place............G'night.

Who makes these?
Hi Denver,
you have posted a few pictures now of these guys with black masks that don't seem to be held in place by anything. Are they related to the people who have pixels/dots for faces who you see being arrested?

Hi Steve, in answer to your very valid question the said rectangles are positioned on my mates faces as yes! Most of them are arrestable and are wanted in several countries around the world on various charges and have expressed thier desire to me to try and maintain their anonymity. If I didn't they said they would pull my toenails out...........Through my mouth!
I was told to purchase my own 'Black Rectangle' before I deployed out here which I duly did at a UK High Street Rectangle Emporium. Not realising just how expensive they were, I went for one of the 'under-the-counter' cheapo varieties made somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland by Vietnemese Boat people on less than minimum wage I suspect!
I am persevering with it right now until I have saved enough for a MKII US Navy SEAL Rectangle! They are the dogs pods of rectangles and a 'must have' out here!

I really wish I could publish some pictures of the people (Iraqis) we work, train and socialise with for you to see Hobbsy, as it would give you a great insight to what I think is a vastly under-publicised side to what we are doing here. Good news never hits the front pages etc. I cannot publish them as it would compromise them in a public domain and would be potentially life-threatening for them. Rest assured that headway is being made. The local people I work with on a day-to-day basis are brilliant people who would like nothing better than for you to pop along to thier houses for a meal and to meet their families. It may just happen, I hope sooner rather than later Hobbsy, but not just yet.
Lightemup, if you get a chance, let us know how it's going with you, I have just got the casualty reports in and they are not good. Take care out there.

Thanks Steve I thought so too! I think it's because you're probably reading it upside down in Melbourne!
Thanks JB, George. I know I'm a bit bonkers but bear with me! OK? You know the old saying of "You don't have to be mad to work here..........but it helps!" and yes, before anyone else says it.............The money is good too.
Marcia or Mike, in answer to your question, you can't! As we employ many very capable ex-Australian military, this guy was working for a British Company out here and we all feel the pain inside when we lose someone, anyone. There but for the grace of God go I. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family back in NSW. There has been an influx of Australian Regular Forces around Iraq and I have seen one or two new faces here in Baghdad. IMHO It's good to see the Diggers here.
As for being beheaded! No way! I frighten myself enough shaving each morning! 5555555555 Stay safe wherever you are tonight.

They are a good bunch of lads here who guard us day and night. Unfortunately we lost a very good man today I have just literally found out. 'M' has worked for us from day one out here, over 3 years as an armourer. A pleasant, amiable bloke with a constant smile on his face, who brought me my cigarettes from the market on his way into work.
He had finished his shift earlier this evening, got into his car and was driving home to his family over the other side of town when it would appear from what I have seen that his ambushers either followed him or waited for him close to his house.
They shot into his car from another vehicle alongside him seriously injuring him. He was forced to stop and they finished him off. He was totally unrecognisable after they had finished with him. Police found his Iraqi National ID and obviously his family identified the vehicle.
All our Local National employees are fully aware of the 'so called' penalties of working or even just talking to a Western Organisation here in Iraq. They also desperately need the work and the salary to survive!
Anyway, just felt I wanted to mention it............RIP 'M' - A good friend.

Sorry to hear you lost your friend, D.
What makes it so hard to sort things out over there, it seems to me, is just that there is so much bad blood, and this nasty sort of thing just keeps making it worse. Just imagine how his family must feel now.

Hi D,
Sorry to hear about your guy. Too bad that when you find a person willing to cross the line and work for the Coalition that the fanatics have to make a lesson of him to try to scare away other people who are just trying to help straighten out things in their post Saddam world.
Chris
