I still have that rifle for you, not sure how I am going to get it out! I have just been gifted another pistol that Pablo might be interested in and if I can get some good-ish pictures of it I will post them.
Hope all is well with you Peterhol and good to hear from you. I'll see if I can get a picture of the rifle with me wearing a thong for you too!

They can delay the fuse to detonate when the second vehicle passes as they are guessing that is where the client sits. To avoid it detonating when 'friendly' local traffic is passing close to the PIR beams, they have a 'Trigger Man' who will activate the PIR remotely using a childs toy car remote controller etc etc! Very, very difficult to defend against and your mate was very lucky to escape alive.
I have some after effect photos (Not the gruesome ones) of these things on heavy armour and will dig them out and post some when I can find them.
The first picture shows the PIR attached to a wall (Imagine trying to see that at 180KPH!) The EFP is under the truck. You drive through the beam, it triggers the EFP and it will cut a 5 tonne Ford Excursion fitted with B6 ballistic armour almost in half. Nasty stuff, easily made in this country after not much tuition.
The vehicle is one of our Werewolf's based with our teams at Victory. We move certain clients around in these. It is very similar to the Mamba and another product of South Africa. Hot as a B4stard inside there, even with air-con and bloody noisy too.
The other picture is just some demure foxy sex hunk!
I'll answer Kevs question tomorrow. I've not been back long and got the 'Saddams Revenge' already! Parp!

Nasty piece of work that, i've been out the RE mines info loop for a few years now, but I kinda guessed even back then PIR was gonna be incorporated into IED's without much trouble.
I remember in Bos we had 33EOD attached to us, and they had a werewolf/mamba type thing for all the millions of mines out there, any idea how they cope with this sort of device? I think their main defence is from mines underneath, with the armoured V shaped chassis deflecting much of the blast, not sure much can really stand upto an offroute mine.
Its been a while, but its good to see your still lurking about and joking mate.
and im sorry to read about the loss of your friend.
I have a mate in out there atm, basra i think, hes trying to stick it out for the 22yr point (7yrs left) but the mortars are giving him second thoughts, especially as hes married with 3 kids, and it looks like tours to that area arent gonna exactly get less.
Hopefully i'll bump into you one day, i might even buy you a beer
until then, keep ur head down.

Yes Paul, the bottom of these vehicles are in a 'V' shape like a ships keel so the impact area is as small as possible. If they are hit from the side then they just roll and roll till they stop!
Plenty of work for a man of your calibre (No pun intended or implied) I have a few details of folk if you are thinking of getting back into that field (No pun intended or implied!) Just PM me.
7 years for your mate will fly by. I know towards the end of my 24 years it did for me. It is worth it to stick it out IMHO and nice to have a full pension at age 38/39 with the State pension to follow on later, but, each to thier own. I wish him luck down in Basra. We flew three new lads down there today. With regard to the mines, a certain country out here decided to tidy up their camp a bit by laying some lovely decorative gravel. I don't need to tell you what a mortar landing in gravel and then 850FPS gravels effect on a thin walled Corimec accomodation block!!! The gravel has gone now and more sand put back! Doh! Anyway............
I hope we do bump into each other one day Paul, hopefully not in a mine field but better to have an ex-RE bod there if you did! Reminds me of the scene in Blackadder when Baldrick asks the Captain "What happens if we step on one of these mushrooms Sir?" "Well Baldrick one would normally jump 300 feet in the air and spread oneself over a very large area!" I'll definately buy you a scoop or three if we do meet. The Engineers have got me out of a few scrapes in the past.
My head is well and truly down. Cheers Paul.

Blame Stevew for it. He is currently doing missionary work in a part of Wales where the locals talk funny and say ''innit'' at the end of sentences.

Just a quick post to say I will be out of here for about a week or so.
I can't say too much in case the wrong type of person is reading!! When I am back on line I'll let you know how we got on.
Herewith a quiz to win a fantastic Denver prize!!!! (TBC) but probably something out of my laundry bag that I seem to have misplaced! I know, I know, I am just too frivolous with my prizes but hey!..........You're worth it.
There are other Nations out here other than the US of A and the US of K, I've posted some pics I have managed to get of some of the others. If you can name them and give me the appoximate speed the train was going plus the name of the driver when I managed to 'spot' it............Then a lovely funky pair of my freshest under-crackers could be winging thier way in your direction!
See you in a week or so...............Inshalla

There again , since Crusty reliably informs us that the train is the "Easy Train" , then perhaps the driver is .............. easyrider_au.
