Aussie Rules Footy
I've been lurking here for a while and this is my first post - so please be gentle I'm about to come on down for Songkran again - third songkran and my fourth trip to Phuket. My last visit was in June 2K1.
I want to know where I can watch the Aussie Rules Footy - pref. on Friday Night (replay), Saturday match live + any extra matches that may be shown.
I know I'm in a different country and all, but this is footy that we are talking about
The last time I was able to watch a match we were at the Sailor bar on beach road. As the season has just started again, I figure the games have got to be on somewhere.
Can anyone help me out here? If your there for Songkran we can catch up for a beer, a game of pool and some er hum, other fun
Cheers

aussie rules
As you said the sailor bar shows the games as it is owned by aussies, but there are a couple of other places one of which is the sports bar which I think is located on or near soi kepsap and rat-u-thit rds. we went around the place and found that there were a few bars showing the games sorry I cant give exact places I think you would do well to check out most of the bars that you go past. saturdays are always good for the afternoon at the sailor, anyway good luck let us know if you find some other places.

Aussie Footy Telly
Check out Champs link http://www.phuketdir.com/champs/index.htm
It;s close to Christins. You can get a rubb donw after a tough match. Also the in Soi Sea Pearl there is a another place that will likely have something for you.. Sorry, forget the name looking on the left side of the Soi right behind the bars facing the street. Good Pub Grub, big T.V.'s, Pool, Darts.

footy
There is a bar (forget name) on Bangla Rd next to bowling alley,
has large screen tv with numerous sports channels, bar staff happy to let you play with the remote and find what you are looking for.
Also Green Fern Bar on Soi Eric has Aussie proprieter, watched English footy there on standard size tv , don't know whether he had the channel you would require.

A good challenge
I think there just a few too many to do the whole lot in Patong, but what may be possible is this -
A drink in every bar down Bangla Road.
There are about 25 bars in Soi Easy, 25 Soi Gonzo, 25 Soi Eric, 25 Soi Seadragon, 20 or so in Soi Crocodile.
Then there are the big bars down the street such as Shipwreck, Full Monty, Irish bar, Tiger, rock Hard..........
You could try to do one Soi in an evening. That may be possible, but I bet after three days of it you would be that drunk you poo your pants
Have fun trying it!!
