Phuket - Casino Visa Run-Ranong.

Does anybody have any info on this,times,dates,costs,links etc,any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the info,but it was specifically the andaman casino/hotel visa run i wanted info on,i've used the search facility,and read a good post from nicke on this subject,but was wondering if anyone has more info,or has been there recently.

What do you want to know?

It is not complicated. Just take a bus or drive to Ranong. Go to Andaman pier and take the shuttle ferry to the island, which leaves every 30 minutes in the daytime. Last trip is at 18:00 if I remember right.

Casino is open 24 hrs/day, so play as much you want or enjoy the other facilities. They should have a golf course nearby too, but I never seen it myself.

My friends have used the gold course and made a 2 - 3 day trip of it..

I hear that if you go and come back same day you only get 25 days visa though (for visa on arrival people) not sure why or how this is..

No

Its a casino- where you gambal and lose your money- if you want that stay in Phuket.

I wasn't that impressed and only went to get a visa- most people were playing the slots- so if you want a casino I suggest you go to a nice one at home and then stay in Phuket.

You can try the Phuket Gazzette website as there are a number of companies who offer the visa run in the classified section- but don't expect much- it will be a people carrier driven by a crazy Thai guy and a stop off for a few drink and bite to eat, then (as Nick says) you'll be on the 'public' ferry a couple of hours on the slots and then back for midnight- too tired to party and wondering wher your 'winnings' went?

Belive me- it is really not that exciting and it most certainaly isn't James Bond in 'Casino Royal'- come to think of it- it isn't even Dr No on James Bond Island.

Gone are the days when you used to be able to just wonder in off bangla road (dressed smartly of course- to show respect) into the tourist police/immigration office next to the Cabana Hotel and smile nicely at the officer and explain that you loved his country so much, that you wished to stay for an additional 30 days- no problem he would reply- simply stand behind this screen whilst I take your photo and you would be then asked to make a donation into the Policeman's Christmas Fund (it is a big party after all and there were many children to feed and buy presents for etc) and as if by magic you would be on your way- with a new visa.

Oh happy days........then again in those days you were also still stood out side Soi San Sabi at 6am drinking beer and watching the sun come up- how things have changed for the better since the '

Dawn sessions in superstars and didis are still on the cards.. Came out of VH in daylight Sunday night monday morning..

the Casino is an all electronic afair not like you would expect in Vegas etc. I hear there is another 'proper' Casino for the high rollers upstairs but not being a high roller I cannot confirm.

The hotel is nice and pretty quiet - with good food and some very pretty Myanmar girls on staff.

The 25 days thing is because you are supposed to go 5-7 days before your visa runs out so you lose those days off your visa.

We used to go all the time but its a long drive/bus ride so a couple of time we took the girls and stayed overnight - as you can imagine they love to gamble, especially with your money

I'm so betting that if you were to ask ther would be girls available, I reckon they would be pretty stunning as well - Seeing as most of the punters there are very well off Thai guys.
